Steve Perry did not have throat cancer. During the writing and recording of "Raised On Radio," Steve's mother was diagnosed with cancer and occasionally he took time away from the band to be with her and to take her to the clinic. In the middle of his For The Love of Strange Medicine tour, Steve Perry contracted bronchitis and was forced to cancel several shows to recover from the illness. After the tour restarted, he contracted severe asthmatic bronchitis.

In the United States two bonus CD5s were issued which contain extra songs not released on the official "For The Love Of Strange Medicine" album. Sadly, both CD5s are out of print and no longer available. You Better Wait +4" -- contains the songs "You Better Wait (Long Version)," "Forever Right Or Wrong," "If You Need Me, Call Me," "One More Time," and "You Better Wait (Single Version).

Steve Perry, who originally played drums, was involved with several pre-Journey bands including The Nocturns, Dollar Bills, Sullies, Pieces (1976-77), and Alien Project (1977).
