Do you have access to a facility suitable for the requested training?

Effective tactical training does not require elaborate training facilities, however, there is still a need for suitable combat shooting ranges and training structures. In most cases, local resources such as combat pistol ranges, rifle ranges and rappel towers can be utilized. STTU can then advise on how to build targets and best modify the available facilities to suit the intended training needs.

Since STTU is structured as an MTT, we no longer maintain a permanent training facility. Most training is done on military or governmental facilities, or arrangements are made with local shooting ranges and training facilities suitable for the required training.

When can we access the facility?

Typically access is provided the day of the banquet at 8:00 am however if there is not a banquet the day prior access can be given a day or two prior to the event.

Yes, there is a training component; its goal is to train the people of the community to operate the facility themselves. For example, the villagers of Al-Kaabneh are already doing an excellent job running their Greenstar systems. We send in a professional once a month for check-ups and training. Local volunteers, for instance computer clubs from cities in the region, will also be recruited to help with support, local language packages, installation of software, and training.

Entrance to all animal facilities is controlled by keys or card access and differs from facility to facility. Keys and/or cards can be obtained by contacting Pat Stanley, Associate Director at 966-2909 / Pat_Stanley@med.unc.edu or Trish Ellis, Operations Manager at 966-2908 / trish_ellis@med.unc.edu. You will need to bring a form of identification and the name of the researcher. Keys can be issued the same day, while access cards take one to two days.
