Some non-U.S. discs from Warner, MGM, and Disney are marked with a distribution zone number. "D1" identifies a UK-only release. These often have English-only soundtracks with BBFC censoring. "D2" and "D3" identify European DVDs that are not sold in the UK and Ireland. These often contain uncut or less cut versions of films. "D4" identifies DVDs that are distributed throughout all of Europe (region 2) and Australia/New Zealand (region 4).

Unless otherwise stated in the item description, all of our DVD's are encoded for play in at least Region 1 (sometimes 2 & 4 also), which is the North American DVD region. We do have a few Japanese import DVD's that are encoded for Region 2, which is Japan and Europe. Also, all of our DVD's are NTSC video format, as opposed to PAL format commonly used in Europe. If you are in the US, all of our DVD's will work just fine in your DVD player except for those few imports that are region 2.

We decided to include all four workouts on two DVDs for two reasons-convenience and sustainability. Having fewer DVDs to keep track of is easier and more convenient, especially, when you are traveling. But, there's a second, even more important reason. Part of our mission is to bring products and services to the world in a conscious way and that includes being "environmentally" conscious. So, by putting four workouts on two DVDs, we've cut the volume of plastic used in the packaging by 50%.

Yes. Kaleidescape Players and Readers are only able to read Region 1 DVDs as shipped. The installer can use the Web Utility to set these components to any other region, but it is not possible to set them to be region-free, and you can only change the region of a given component up to four times. These restrictions are dictated by Kaleidescape's CSS License Agreement with the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc. You can have multiple Players and Readers in the same System set to different regions.

Not All DVDs play in all DVD players! The DVD world is divided into six major geographical regions, with two additional regions reserved for specialized use. To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs.

Region 2 discs are discs that are designed to be played within the areas designated to this particular Region. Region 2 is designated to the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. You will need a Multi-Region compatible DVD player to view Region 2 discs outside of the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. Kino DVDs are "region-one", intended for use in North America. They are recorded, however, in NTSC format. Customers outside of North America may need a multi-system television and DVD player.

Yes, you can. Magic videos are not coded for just one region - they can be played in any DVD region in the world. Film companies use Region coding to be able to control the release dates in different regions. An example: Usually, Hollywood films are released in USA a few weeks or months before the release in Europe.

DVDs are coded into 6 Regions. For example Region 1 codes will only work in the US and Canada. Some DVDs will be coded Region 0 which means it will play anywhere. International buyers please be very careful and read the descriptions to make sure you are buying DVDs that will play in your Region. Most of our DVDs will be Region 1, but some come in Region 0.

According to what the public is being told, such coding is a tool to protect copyright and film distribution rights (in other words, movie studio profits). Movies are released in theaters in different parts of the world at different times throughout the year. That Summer blockbuster in the U.S. may end up being the Christmas blockbuster overseas. If that occurs, the DVD version of the movie may be out in the U.S. while it is still showing in theaters overseas.

Due to Film Studios releasing films at different times worldwide and to protect these markets, the studios designed region coding as a method of ensuring discs would only play in certain geographical locations. Currently, there are six global region codes that identify a DVD's compatibility with the players typically sold in that region, or with multi-region players. Region 0 (or "region free") is compatible with DVD players from any of the six regions.
