However, estates in BC are subject to the following probate fees (charged on gross assets) as of July 2005: In addition, a filing fee of $208 is required for estates which have a gross asset value greater than $25,000. Assets which pass outside the estate, such as those held in joint tenancy, (with right of survivorship), or to named beneficiaries (such as life insurance or RRSPs) are not subject to probate fees.
