Baby teeth serve the important function of eating, speech, and esthetics (self image). Unless a baby tooth will fall out in the next several months, it is generally unwise to leave decay on baby teeth. Decay can easily move to other baby teeth or even to permanent teeth. Primary teeth, or baby teeth last approximately 1/7th of a lifetime. Cavities in primary teeth can cause toothaches and infections, just as they do in adults. Moreover, an infection in the baby tooth can result in damage to the underlying permanent tooth. If a primary tooth is lost prematurely, the back teeth may move forward into the empty space and block out the unerupted permanent tooth creating an impaction and an orthodontic problem.

If you follow the directions carefully, place baby's bottom on the seam of the pouch, and tie the straps of the Mei Tai carefully, you should not have any problems. With a very small or wiggly baby, you might want to tie the straps of the Mei Tai around baby's back, so it closes the open sides, and reduces the space there. If your baby is uncooperative, use your best judgment, and maybe put the carrier away for a day. As always, use your common sense when wearing your baby.

Well-baby care is really a catchy phrase for preventive, primary care for children. Regular checkups ensure that your baby or child is developing properly. You should always feel the baby move after 24 weeks. Many times if you are busy you may not notice them although there is movement occurring. If you notice no movements, stop what you are doing, drink something sweet such as orange juice, and lay on your left side in a quiet room. You should have 10 movements within 1 hour. Any movement counts. If not, then call office immediately or proceed to hospital.
