We do indeed have wireless, which you are welcome to experience with your laptop, or a laptop that you check out from the Reserve Desk. You should be able to access the network from just about anywhere in the library, after logging into the network with your ECnet username and password. To set up your laptop to print to the library printer, follow the instructions on the Emerson Helpdesk website.

Click on the link at the bottom right under the paragraph beginning with "Wireless Printing now available" or goto the following page located at http://lsu-tut/index.htm. There are 6 public printers in the department. A listing of these printers, their locations, and other facilites available within the department is available at http://www.math.duke.edu/computing/facilities.html The public printers are all accessible from the wireless network or from any Duke IP address. You should use IPP printing to connect to the server ipp://printhost.math.duke.edu with queue name /printers/lw0 for example.

Yes. Printing will default to the LIBR-REF2 printer on the 3rd (Main) floor of the library. You will need to use your Tiger Card to release your print jobs.

Printing from personal laptops is not currently available. However, we have resources available for you to move files from your laptop to a library computer for printing purposes. Please stop at the Reference Desk for assistance.

Yes on both counts - in Open Computer Lab 1, on the lower level of the Library there is a flatbed scanner and a computer with a zip drive. For assistance in using either resource, please speak with the Library Lab Specialist, who is available during the day, from 8:30-4:30, Monday through Thursday, and Friday 8:30AM-4PM. If you are not familiar with either technology you may wish to set up an appointment, by contacting the lab at 978-630-9538.

No. The best solution to this problem if you must print immediately is to transfer your document to a floppy or USB flash drive and bring the disk or drive to the Academic Technology lab on the ground floor of the library for printing.

Yes. There are wireless capabilities in two places in the library: at the front of the library and in the atrium area. Access requires an IEEE 802.11b compliant network card. The card may be purchased at the university bookstore or from most electronic stores. Just find a wireless network to which you can connect. These networks are becoming common in cities and towns worldwide — Internet cafes and coffee shops are popping up everywhere! — as well as in public areas like airports, hotels and convention centres or anywhere people gather. Some wireless HotSpot networks require you to manually configure your access connection; others work with your wireless card to automatically log on.
