This is a very important question. We have the engineering designs to properly adjust your arbor to accept your local conditions. A modification in the thickness of the awning post spacing, thickness of rafters and mid-span support( which is very rarely used) might be all it would take. The work that is painted will not rust unless it gets deeply scratched. The work that is left raw (Rock Men, Plant Sticks, Garden Sticks, etc.), will rust if left outside or in a damp environment. However, they are designed to rust and look fine in the garden with rusty-earthy tones.
