Like the GPA, there is no "good" MCAT score: individuals with low MCAT scores gain admission to medical school, while some candidates with very high scores are not accepted. The most common total numeric score for admitted applicants is 26-28. Applicants with a total numeric score of 27 are as likely to be accepted as rejected.

No minimum score has been set. Offers of admission, however, are based on merit and evaluation of the applicant's potential for academic success. Standardized test scores, therefore, are considered carefully and are an important element of the admissions process. In order to qualify for on-campus housing you must be a matriculated student. However, on-campus housing is very limited and is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

It is not necessary for students to submit an MCAT score. However, if a student has sat the MCAT examination, submitting the score will assist UNSW staff in assessing the application for a place in UNSW Medicine.

A student's performance on the reading, math and science WASLs is reported using "scale scores." Scale scores are three-digit numbers that are used to place the student into one of four levels: Advanced (Level 4), Proficient (Level 3), Basic (Level 2) and Below Basic (Level 1). A scale score of 400 is assigned to a student who has just barely met the state standard; this score is at the lower end of Level 3. Students scoring in Level 4 are said to have exceeded the state standard.

A strong carotenoid defence should be desired, and is a number that is unique to each individual. In a large clinical screening study, the mean average was 19,000, which also correlated with a mean fruit and vegetable intake of 2-3 per day. National organizations recommend consuming at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. The clinical study found that those subjects who consumed six or more fruits and vegetables per day measured 25,000 or above.

The Admissions Committee recommends applicants receive a score of 20 or above on the MCAT. This year's incoming class received an average of 23.

The adcom is going to wonder, has this guy decided he wants to do medicine or is he going to change his mind again? An MCAT of 35 is more than decent... I think that the bigger challenge for you will be assuring the adcom that you will fit in (you are non-traditional in every sense of the word) and that you will stay in medicine.

We will accept MCAT scores from 2005 forward. If you sat for an MCAT earlier than 2005 that you would like considered, you need to apply for a waiver (Scroll to bottom of page for instructions).

Nevada's committee considers your most recent MCAT score. Previous scores are compared to measure improvement or decline in test performance.

Be sure to check with all the medical schools to which you plan to apply to ask for their average GPAs and MCAT scores for accepted students. Nevada's average GPA is 3.6 and the average MCAT score is 9.5 for accepted students. In general, a GPA below 3.0 makes it difficult for an applicant to be competitive.

MCAT scores are valid for three years. 2004 is the last year considered for applicants applying in 2007 for matriculation in 2008.

This is a question that depends on the programs to which you will be applying, so do some research on the schools you're thinking about. For most schools, at the very least, you should be able to find out the average or median GRE scores of the previous incoming class. A "good" score would be one that beats those.

If you are hoping to matriculate in a professional school the year after you graduate, you should take these exams in the spring of your Junior year. If you plan to do a gap year after you graduate, you should take the MCAT or GRE in the spring two years before you hope to matriculate. For example, if you plan to matriculate in Fall 2010, you will be applying in Fall 2009, which means you should take the MCAT or GRE no later than the Spring of 2009.

most schools, a composite score of 30 or higher combined with a GPA of 3.5 or higher is very competitive. Also, "balanced" scores (e.g. 10, 10, 10) are more desirable than "lopsided" scores (e.g. 5, 13, 12).
