What I thought was bronchitis actually turned out to be chronic laryngitis and I've been unable to speak for a full week now. It really puts things in perspective when one of your major forms of communication is taken away. I've spent the whole week signalling with my hands and my facial expressions and it's extremely frustrating when people still don't understand what you're trying to say. No. You should always wear casual clothing and comfortable walking shoes to the parades. Many times your shoes will be stepped on so you do not want to wear anything you wouldn't want ruined. You may also have to park a distance from the parade route, so you'll want to be comfortable. You should bring a large bag to collect your trinkets and throws in. You should also bring extra tissue in case the port-a-lets are out. On Mardi Gras day, wear a costume.

The dress code for the entire seminar is Business Casual. It is suggested you bring an umbrella as you will be walking from your lodging to the seminar events. There is an outdoor pool available for your use during the seminar.

Friday evening is classroom only. You do not need to bring your riding gear. However, if you have a question about your gear, please bring the item with you and the Instructor will answer your question. You should bring a pen or pencil for note taking.

Yes, you can park in the North end of the E-1 parking lot at the University of Washington. For Friday night parking you will need to buy a parking pass via the registration form or at packet pickup. Lot opens at 5 pm Friday night.

It is considered formal. Styles on formality have grown more liberal over the years, however. So, if you don't have a beaded gown, bring something nice and that makes you feel special. After all, that is what playing "dress up" is all about!

This is a personal preference, but we recommend a men’s frame hybrid or mountain bike with bar-end extenders or ram-horn style handlebars. The bicycle should have 18 to 21 speeds, with a small chainring (sometimes called a "granny" gear located at the pedals) with fewer teeth than the largest gear on the rear wheel. The handlebars should be well padded to protect against hand stress. The brakes should be new or in very good condition.
