Short shaft 15" outboard motors are recommended to be installed on the 15" transom of Saturn inflatable boats. The lighter the outboard motor - the better. Either 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines may be installed on a boat transom, however 2-stroke engines are generally much lighter then 4-stroke outboard motors. Long shaft 20" motors are not recommended, but may also be installed if a short shaft o/b is unavailable. However a long shaft o/b may create extra underwater drag.

Manufacturer Identification Codes (MIC) were assigned by the US Coast Guard on May 6, 2003. Our boats have been CE, ISO and Germanischer Lloyd Certified in Europe, Asia and Australia. Serendipity came with a 3.9 hp Volvo Penta (yes they made outboards) with a 2 blade prop. This would push her 4.3 mph in flat conditions. We can set-up an inflatable on many surfaces (grass, asphalt, concrete, inside, outside, etc.). It is very important that the location is flat, level, and smooth. It is also imperative that the location allows for overhead clearance from any trees, power-lines, is free of debris, animal droppings, hazardous materials, etc, and is easily accessible. When you make the reservation, our staff will make sure to ask you these questions.

For many years all inflatables were made of Neoprene/Hypalon (or rubber) materials. Today modern materials and construction processes have made it possible to make inflatables out of strong plastic materials called PVC or Strongan (Zodiac's fabric). So, today most inflatables are made out of PVC or Hypalon. Each fabric is different and requires different fabric and glue for repairs.

There should be inflatable boats, pool toys and fishing rods at the house, however these do sometimes get broken or taken. All equipment is used at your own risk.

Once disconnected as outlined above, a single davit can be used to lift the motor. The motor can then be swung right up to the rail or up to the walk through transom. Consider using our MS1 motor sling!

Our motor sling is made from heavy-duty webbing rated at 1400 lbs. All fittings and fasteners are made from stainless steel - no plastic to fatigue from ultraviolet radiation. The sling itself wraps around the motor twice before terminating on buckles at the after end of the motor. Even the new design four-stroke outboards cannot slip out of this sling since it continues to get tighter as the motor tries to slide. We recommend that you install a hydrofoil on the outboard motor in order to improve speed and boat handling. A Hydrofoil will help put the boat on plane much faster and will help maintain the planning effect at lower speed.
