We quote lead times of 4 to 6 weeks because there are many steps involved in getting the product to you before and after its made. However, your order may actually be shipped earlier than our quoted lead times. We will always let you know when it ships.

We carry Antique Heart Pine (Longleaf Southern Yellow Pine), Red and White Oak, Eastern White Pine, and American Chestnut. We also occasionally carry Maple, Spruce, and Beech. Other woods that we have had available at one time include Hemlock, Butternut, Sassafrass, Locust, Ash, Walnut, Cherry and Elm. All of the material we sell is antique and reclaimed. We do not carry any new woods.

I would say that most woods can be carved. But there are some that are less than desirable for a number of reasons. The grain of the wood may be unattractive, or the wood itself may be too soft. On the other end of the spectrum, hardwoods can be very difficult to carve, and dull saw blades quickly, making them more time consuming and more expensive. Some woods like poplar are considered a hardwood, but are a bit easier to carve.

Solid wood can mean one single board or plank of lumber having no additional wood glued to it. Very few pieces of furniture made today will utilize single boards. However, many antiques have single board tops and sides. Several wood boards glued together is also considered solid wood. Furniture makers have found that a board of this combination is less likely to warp or split than one single board.

Tropitone Furniture is intended to be used outdoors. In milder climates, your patio furniture can be left outdoors year-round. Each piece has drain holes built into the frame to ensure water will not build up and freeze causing bursting. However, if you live in a severe climate, it is best to store your patio furniture indoors during extremely cold or wet seasons. Additionally, we recommend you close your patio umbrellas during high-wind situations.

It is not recommended you place grills on wooden decks. If you do you must take measures to keep any burning ash or grease from falling onto the deck. The only people who can cook on their deck or patios are those living in single family houses or duplexes. Even then, it is a good idea to be sure the device is away from the house or overhanging structure. Keep children and pets away from the grill. Stay with the device while it is hot or a flame is present.

Grain is present due to the nature of the wood these marks are not defects in the wood and are only natural.

Long term departmental requirements are to be considered first over individual needs. Standards are to be guided by functionality, durability, cost and individual requirements while being mindful of individual roles. Wood furniture is reserved for special needs and environments.

Superficial nicks and scratches that have cut into the finish film, or even cut all the way into the wood underneath, can be camouflaged with color treatment and waxing. Wax sticks in a variety of colors are available from the hardware store. Paste shoe polish applied with a cotton swab can be used to color the exposed wood. If the scratch is just on the top of the finish film and not very deep, a simple buffing with a furniture wax will restore the luster to the finish.

You can repair the split by using Epoxy Adhesive and clamping it together. The repair will be stronger than the original wood.
