OHV recreation is just one of the many uses allowed on National Forest lands. OHV travel is regulated by the OHV travel plan; check with the closest Ranger Station for specific areas. It is your responsibility to know and abide by regulations relating to motor vehicle travel. State law requires registration of all motor vehicles before being operated on public lands.

There are thousands of miles of established dirt roads in the Eastern Sierra. Some range from drivable by two wheel drive to very challenging four wheel drive routes. We ask that you stay on existing dirt roads. There is one open area east of Bishop managed by the Inyo National Forest. This area is called Poleta Canyon and can be accessed by taking East Line Street out of Bishop and traveling approximately 9 miles east. The area will be marked where open riding is allowed.

There are two prefered points to measure vehicle ride height. Both measurements should be taken on a level flat surface. One is at the center of the fender well to the ground.The other is at the bump stop to the axle housing or frame..

Off-highway vehicles including motorcycles, quads, jeeps, and full-sized vehicles may generally travel on all BLM improved and unimproved roads, with the exception of a few county roads. For those wishing to travel cross-country, more than 8.3 million acres of public lands in Oregon and Washington are designated as open for cross-country travel. Consult with the BLM District where you want to ride to determine which areas and roads are legal to travel and which are closed.

Under common law, pedestrians, horse riders and carriage drivers have public user rights over the whole width of land designated a highway. Usually this is between the hedges and fences on either side of the carriageway and this area may include verges. These rights may, however, be restricted where limitations are imposed such as the provision of a footway, along which only pedestrians have user rights.

Government employees and contractors may operate government vehicles when conducting official government business in support of NASA functions or activities. Refer to Official Use of Vehicles, paragraph 3.1 through 3.10. Yes. For government employees, the government is self-insured, negating the need for further insurance. Contractors must be properly insured for vehicles operated in connection with the applicable contract. See paragraph 11.

Unless posted otherwise or in wildernesses, off-highway vehicle use is allowed on established roads, trails, and washes on BLM-administered lands. For more information, visit our Motorized Recreation pages.

The Comptroller General has ruled that agencies have the discretion to determine on a case by case basis if it is in the Government's best interest, e.g., morale purposes, to permit dependents to accompany employees in Government vehicles otherwise used for official business. Refer to published decisions 57 Comp. Gen. 266(1978) and 68 Comp. Gen. 186 (1989) for more details.

Our ride ends at Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Coteau. If you are traveling by car, on Wednesday afternoon at or Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m., have your Driver Only, drive their car to Grand Coteau. Please be prompt! Buses will be available at the Academy to get you back to the start of the ride. Please send one person per vehicle and have other members of your party stay at the start with your bikes. Secured parking for the ride is included in your registration fee.

The Interstate system has been deemed adequate to handle the navigation task the US routes used to provide in many areas. Many state legislatures have adjusted their numbering systems over the years to make bookkeeping easier, and eliminated US routes or portions of them in the process. Since 1956, when the Interstate program was implemented in full, the mileage of the US system has decreased from 162,358 miles to 150,934 miles in 2004, or a net loss of 7%. Sep 26, 2004

The National Highway System is a system of roads administered by the FHWA (see Question 4.1 ) that receives special funding from the federal government. It was started with ISTEA (see Question 4.3 ) in 1991. All Interstates are in it, but not all US Routes. Many state routes are included and even some city-maintained routes. Each lesson is 3-4 hours of instruction with 1 hour riding time. The lessons are divided between two thirty-minute sessions. Your session starts when you put on your wakeboard and jump into the water. The 5 to 10 minutes traveling to nice water does not count as your lesson time.

The Contractor will develop, in consultation with the environmental agencies, measures to limit wildlife mortality associated with vehicle collisions. Measures might include culvert or bridge design refinements to accommodate wildlife passage, identification of locations for wildlife signs, and concrete roadside barriers with enlarged scuppers (holes) to facilitate small animal passage.

In most areas of National Forest, you need to stay on roads and trails that are open to motorized travel. You may not take your ATV behind a closed gate, or travel OFF the road or trail (cross-country), unless the area is specifically designated for that use. Motorized vehicles are not allowed in any Wilderness Area. You should contact the local Forest office for more details and maps to help you learn where you may ride. Back to Top

Ride height will vary with each model. Contact our technical support department for the appropriate frame width on your particular unit. Ride height measurement is taken positioned from the bottom of the mainframe rail to the top of the H-frame. Ride height valve is positioned at the center of the bore. Adjustment is made at the arm located immediately before the valve body. Caution must be taken to prevent cutting the rod and causing the shortened rod to pull out of the rubber boot.

Tennessee State Parks do not have any ATV trails. The Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry addresses this in their website at: Off-road vehicles may use only unpaved roadways maintained by the Forestry Division and not the public roadways unless they and their vehicles are licensed for the public roadways.
