I imagine that most devices use simple bilinear filtering to upscale an image. The downside of this is softer edges. Yes. Kaleidescape Players and Readers are only able to read Region 1 DVDs as shipped. The installer can use the Web Utility to set these components to any other region, but it is not possible to set them to be region-free, and you can only change the region of a given component up to four times. These restrictions are dictated by Kaleidescape's CSS License Agreement with the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc. Videos belonging to games from Blizzard contain DivX video, but with a different FourCC, namely "BLZ0". To play such videos you need to use ffdshow for decoding DivX video. The regular DivX decoder won't work (unless you manually change the FourCC). If that doesn't solve the problem, then you should use Media Player Classic or VideoLAN to play the file.
