Like the GPA, there is no "good" MCAT score: individuals with low MCAT scores gain admission to medical school, while some candidates with very high scores are not accepted. The most common total numeric score for admitted applicants is 26-28. Applicants with a total numeric score of 27 are as likely to be accepted as rejected.

If you are hoping to matriculate in a professional school the year after you graduate, you should take these exams in the spring of your Junior year. Students can take the MCAT 3 times per year, but can only be registered for 1 at a time. There is no 'waiting period' between tests, meaning students could take the exam on one day and begin the registration process for another exam the next day.

This is a difficult question to answer. With most scoring models, the higher the score the better. Higher credit scores mean lower risk. For other scoring models it's the other way around. We will accept the test centre (unofficial) GMAT score from candidates up to August 10, 2007 which is the deadline for receiving the application forms. GPA's and MCAT scores do not offset one another. Both have predictive value for success in medical school, particularly in the first two years, which everyone seems to think are the hardest. Therefore, the Admissions Committee generally prefers students who have both good GPA's and good MCAT scores.

Applicants to Texas Tech are encouraged to take the April administration of the MCAT. The Office of Admissions will not receive the scores until mid-July. This is important to remember because an early, completed application can make all the difference between interviewing and not. This doesn't mean the August MCAT is not desirable.
