Acrylic is the most commonly used material in traditional domed curb mount and self-flashing skylights. It comes in a variety of tints and is an extremely reliable material for use in a wide range of shapes and sizes. It can be formed into domes, circulars, pyramids, ridges, etc...

All of our display cases are glass and mirror. While we have carried an acrylic line of display cases in the past, it has been discontinued.

Because no technology has been found yet that resolves the plastic "aging" problem that causes dull-looking in acrylic tank after certain years of use, and because "easy-to-get scratched" on acrylic tanks is still a major disadvantage, our answer is No, despite the fact that making curvy acrylic tank would require a lot less investment in equipment, labor, and technology than making curvy glass tank.

Acrylic nails are the most common form of nail enhancement in the salon. They are strong and durable and provide a nice shape to the nail, especially for clients who have an abnormal shape to their nails. Acrylic nails are applied using a sable brush with liquid and powder. They can be applied over a natural nail or plastic tip, or they can be sculptured. In the satin and gloss finishes which are commonly used on woodwork, oil enamels traditionally exhibited a richness, touch and leveling ability which was unmatched by waterborne paints. However, with the introduction of Eco, many professional painters and designers believe they have discovered an odorless, waterborne alkyd, which can be used interchangeably with traditional Hollandlac oil enamels.

Exposure of the SIMPLY BRILLIANT™ coating to water before it has hardened can DULL the surface (through emulsification and loss of some initially oily gloss enhancers) but it is STILL waterproof (beading water). The wax certainly has NOT been washed off, and the gelcoat is still protected! Procedures detailed in our "Online Instruction Book" will prevent slow setting of the Superwax.

acrylic topcoats are typically the best due to color retention properties and flexibility. It is important, however, to use an oil based primer before using the acrylic topcoat when painting over bleeding woods like Redwood or Cedar. A complete acrylic system may be used on all other non-bleeding woods.

We prefer to use acrylic windows, but depending on how and where the units are being displayed we can install glass into many of our Swingframes. One problem with standard glass is no matter how well it’s packed it may break in transit. We would recommend shatter-resistant tempered glass if glass was required for the project. This glass comes 5/16” thick and does not fit into all Swingframe products.

Acrylic is sold under the trade name Plexiglass? and polycarbonate is sold under the trade name Tuffak? or Makrolon?. The plastics manufacturer we work says that acrylic is more weatherable than polycarbonate, is slightly more scratch resistant, and is more economical than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate has greater impact resistance than acrylic, and is more expensive.

Acrylic awards may be washed with a mild soap or detergent and cleaned with a soft cloth or sponge. Never use abrasive cleaners, household cleaners, window cleaning fluids or any abrasive cloths as these can scratch your award.

Normally, Acrylic coating like Berger's weather coat, Asian's Elastomeric Apex, Ace etc are called as Acrylic or Latex base coating, because they are 100 % Acrylicas. But, our White Knight-Water Soluble is based on branded Polyester Resins and Acrylic systems for better grip and hardness. Grip, as compared to normal Acrylic is more than double. So, we call our coating as Poly Acrylic base.
