In general, it is probably best to send files to the archive memory. The TI-83 Plus (and Silver Edition) have much less RAM than archive, and the RAM is likely to fill up if you try to store everything there. Basic programs normally run out of RAM, so you will have to place them in RAM before running them. Assembly shells will generally copy the program to RAM before running it, so this is not a problem for them.

The environment for running assembly programs is essentially the same on these two calculators. Virtually all programs written for the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition will work on the TI-83 Plus with no difficulties. Since the Silver Edition has more memory and speed, a program designed to require these features might not work properly (or at all) on a regular TI-83 Plus. However, very few (if any) such programs exist.

TI-83 Plus programs should work well on the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition. The TI-83 Plus Silver Edition's normal functioning is about the same as a regular TI-83 Plus, except that it is about 2.5 times as fast and has much more storage. Math operations and basic programs should run the same as before, only faster. Assembly programs (and flash applications) are run by default with the calculator slowed down to TI-83 Plus speed for maximum compatibility. Thus TI-83 Plus programs should work fine.

RAM (standing for Random Access Memory) memory is about 24 kilobytes in size and is where programs that you want to run need to be. Also stored in RAM are lists, matrices, functions, etc. ARCHIVE memory is separate from RAM and is where programs and applications are stored when they are not being used. If any data is in Archive memory, then typically it cannot be used, only stored there - it always has to be unarchived first to use it. GROUPS are always stored in archive memory.

You can try looking for a .zip or a .tar.gz archive in the directory that contains the files of interest, or in its parent directory. If you don't find one, however, the answer is no. It is necessary to keep individual files available, and maintaining redundant copies of these files within archives, or creating them on demand, would not be the best use of available resources. There are excellent alternatives, however, to downloading many files one at a time using a web browser.

Yes. You have a special option both in the Backup and in the Restore tabs that lets you delete any source or destination file that no longer exists. In case of Restore, every time a source file not existing into the backup archive is found a delete confirmation dialog box will appear allowing you to decide if the deletion is correct or not. This is a safe procedure.

The simplest way to get all the required files (and then some) is to use the getcal batch file. Typically named getcallite for Lites and getcalxx for ADDvantage-32 drives. The ADDvantage-32 drive will require either the PerformanceView.exe to be running, or you must use Explorer to look at the Collector and log in. Otherwise getcal may fail to access the collector, it will indicate if you are not connected.

This is probably because you have tried to use the "Send Flash Software" option. This is only useful for sending flash applications, their certificates, or operating systems. For normal files, use "Send To" instead.

Yes. You will have the opportunity to let us know whether or not you want to keep your archives, or delete them. If your archives are on a local hard drive, they must be moved onto a network drive (such as your G:\ drive) if you want them to be migrated. There is no need to unarchive the messages from the GW archives back into the live mailbox to move them to the Outlook system. It is not necessary to create Archives just for the migration.

The archive files you can download are among the biggest we've seen over the last few months. Most daily archives will be much smaller. Lightning/2000? stores more data for each lightning stroke. This is done for several reasons, but the bottom line is that you will have be able to replay any daily archive and it will appear nearly exactly as it did when the data was "live".

The archive contains the articles from DIYglobal plus, the news items and all the volumes of the magazine DIY in Europe from 1995 on. The daily news updates are freely available there for four weeks as well. It is possible to initiate a search in the password-protected archive section even without a password, though in such cases the user can only view the list of the articles located, including the source reference. A subscription is necessary to see the text in its entirety.
