Yes. SHSH offers a strong support system for teachers. Each centre has an experienced Director of Studies and at least one senior teacher to help and advise on all aspects of teaching, including lesson planning. Furthermore, they will hold weekly teacher development sessions which will reflect the needs of all of the teachers. All hiring of teaching assistants at UofT is done internally by individual departments. Most graduate departments at the University of Toronto offer new students a teaching assistantship when they are accepted into the department. This is not always the case, however, and no department is required to offer TAships to its students.

Teaching Assistant assignments will be made in late August. You will work with a faculty member and your main duty will be to grade assignment papers. Graduate students do not usually teach classes.
