The National Bio and Agro-defense Facility will bolster the nation's ability to protect its agricultural resources and the public from biological threats. Diseases up for study at the facility include Foot and Mouth Disease, Classical and African swine fevers, Rift Valley Fever, Nipah and Hendra viruses, Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, and Japanese Encephalitis virus. Federal scientists will be charged with developing vaccines and other countermeasures to prevent and combat these diseases.

NBAF will research biological threats that affect human, zoonotic, and foreign animal diseases. Researchers from three government departments will conduct microbiological tests, and develop vaccines and therapeutics (the same testing that is done in private sectors) to prevent and help combat these diseases.

There are a variety of research projects that have been initiated in the department. One project involved development and assessment of a computer program that employs ASL to promote speech and reading in deaf children. The Rehabilitation Engineering and Research Center (RERC) is a funded center whose goal is to conduct research programs that provide technological solutions for accessibility.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has been awarded $1.2 million in first year funding to establish three CFS Cooperative Research Centers in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Colorado. The centers will conduct basic science and clinical investigations into CFS and allow new theories and observations about the disease to be more easily evaluated.

The National Rosacea Society has instituted a research grants program to encourage and support scientific investigation into the potential causes and other key aspects of rosacea that may lead to improvement in its treatment, as well as its potential prevention or cure. Research includes studies conducted by the Exeter University and Sheffield University in England. Each study shows remarkable progress in reading, comprehension, writing, self esteem, social skills, coordination, and attention among children who completed the program at DORE.

AIDS research constitutes about 50 percent of the CNPRC's research and includes studies relating to pediatric AIDS, vaccine development and mechanisms of virus transmission. Other researchers study reproductive issues associated with conception and aging, and fetal therapies for congenital disorders.

The LifeVest has been extensively tested and researched throughout Europe and the US. The US trials were comprised of 17 major medical centers throughout the country, 289 patients and were conducted over a three-year time span. For more information, read our Clinical Trials. Yes. The Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the LifeVest WCD 2000 for the US in December of 2001 and approved for the next generation LifeVest WCD 3000 for the US in October of 2002.

a "Biosafety Level 4" Lab, NBAF will provide the nation with integrated research and response capabilities to protect animal and public health. The facility will also enhance the nation's capability to protect livestock and the livestock industry from both naturally occurring and intentionally introduced disease threats.

Several controlled studies have been conducted since 1996 using the BioFlex Professional System. Two of these involved experimental models of Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The results of both studies showed BioFlex producing significant, positive effects on these disorders. A synopsis of these studies is available. Meditech has embarked on an extensive program of Beta Testing of the BioFlex user protocols.

Cryobanks is currently involved in supporting research pursuing cures for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), spinal cord repair and dermal wound repair. We support this research by supplying cord blood not suitable for transplant, in addition to financial funding for these projects. Cryobanks' corporate policy does not permit involvement in any research that is deemed controversial (cloning, embryonics) or cosmetic. Any defendant should clearly understand the violation they are being charged with. You may need to make another visit to the library and look up the statute you have supposedly violated. It may be possible that the officer cited the wrong statute, or that you did not meet the definition of a violation.
