A specially rendered GIF image that takes on the background color of a web page. This produces a more professional looking page.

This was a useful technique in Internotes Web Publisher and TILE. You would store all the special GIF and JPEG files as attachments in the Using document for a database. When the web site was generated, these files would then be detached and placed in the same directory. It's a feature. The idea is, if you're doing a distortion morph, often known simply as a a "warp", your intent is to distort the original image. So you use the original to place the start objects, then the end image is the same as the source so you can see how far away an object is positioned, or in other words, the linear amount of the warp. Yes. All EPS images include a transparent background, by default, and all ChristmasTimeClipart.com images are provided in this file format. Usually, a transparent background is only an issue if you are editing an image in PhotoShop or some other image editing program. There is no way to give an applet a transparent background that lets the web browser background show through. You can simulate it by giving the applet a background that matches the underlying browser background. GIF is Graphics Interchange Format, as the name implies, it is intended for use with graphics to be displayed on the Internet. This compression method is excellent for large areas of the same color but not suitable for subtle gradations of color such as in photographs. If your image doesn't have an alpha channel, add one with Layers->Add Alpha Channel. Select the area you want to clear (if not the whole image). To change everything of a particular color transparent, pick Select->By Color... and click on the color in the image you want to replace. Then select Edit->Clear. That's it.
