Undergraduate courses offered by the schools Arts & Sciences and Engineering are designed for full-time students enrolled in degree programs, but Johns Hopkins does allow a small number of students each semester to take courses for personal or professional enrichment as visiting students. Visiting students are not enrolled in a degree program, but they may take courses in these two schools for a maximum of two semesters.

Yes. Your application to the visiting student program will be evaluated based on your high school record. Please remember that as a visiting student you will not be working toward a degree at Johns Hopkins, although you may transfer the credits you earn to another institution.

Yes. Many students do independent research with HGSE faculty, and we have relationships with several labs in the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Harvard Medical School.

The Families First program started in September 2002, and by September 2007 had made over 15,000 visits to new parents, with approximately 7,000 families participating in the program.

Once you have been admitted as a Visiting Student, you will need to register in person in the Enrollment Services and Student Assistance Center. You will fill out the Enrollment Data Sheet (EDS) and a Waiver for Advising. As a visiting student, you will not receive advising. Yes. The total number of hours a visiting student may take is limited to 21 with no restrictions on the number of semesters. The requirements for maintaining good academic standing are the same as our requirements for regularly admitted students.

There are no set visiting hours for Meadowood Health Pavilion. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. The front doors are locked at 9 p.m. but there is a bell that one can ring for access after this time.

International students who are accepted as Visiting Scholars or Non-Degree students may only enter the United States on a J-1 visa and must register for a minimum of three courses per quarter.

Yes. All Summer Session students are required to pay the student fee. This fee allows you to use the computer labs, Dana Library, and the Golden Dome Athletic Center.
