Are you sure that disc was released in mono/stereo/whatever?

Elektra Master Discography FAQ
From the time of (about) 'Waiting for the Sun' Elektra ceased to issue LPs in both mono and stereo. However, for a while mono versions of these albums were produced elsewhere, such as the UK. It is much more difficult to say definitively that something exists than that it doesn't, but occasionally I may say a mono version exists and omit to say that it wasn't released in the USA. Your input would always be welcome on this.

How do I turn a stereo signal into a mono signal?

Car Audio Installation FAQs - WikiFAQ - Answers to Frequentl...
Creating a mono signal is often necessary when you are powering a subwoofer by bridging the amplifier. Many people do not realize that bridging an amplifier does not always provide a mono signal - many amplifiers will simply use only one input channel, which means that the subwoofer won't be receiving the full signal. Some amplifiers have a switch that will allow you to combine the left and right channels into a mono signal. See similar questions...

Which should I use with my subwoofer, a mono or stereo cable?

AccordionArtist.com - FAQ
accordion isn't like a piano with a left-to-right sound spread. Especially when dealing with melody, which comes from the right-hand side of the instrument, the sound is strictly vertical in nature. Therefore, we record almost always in mono. There are exceptions, however. See similar questions...

This is especially useful when you want to work with only one channel of a stereo recording. Unite: This is used to combine, or 'Unite', two mono files in to one stereo file. Why the mono/stereo button? Does it mono the inputs?

Sound Devices: USBPre FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
The ability to monitor in mono is important when multi-track recording. When recording with one input, the ability to hear that input in both ears in the headphones makes monitoring less fatiguing. Monitoring in mono is necessary with single channel sources. The Mono function can be heard only through the headphones, and only affects the input signals; any signals from the PC stay stereo. How can I connect a mono signal to a stereo input on a patchbay?

Patchbays
This is a common requirement with multi-effects processors which can accommodate a mono or stereo input, depending on the selected algorithm. Fortunately, it is easily solved with a special version of half-normalling called 'stereo half-normalling'! The answer is to connect the tip (and ring, in balanced interfaces) contact(s) of the left channel input socket to the switching contact(s) of the right channel's input socket. Why are you using JOINT STEREO when MONO files are smaller?

FAQs for listening to and creating your own podiobook
People. Trust me on this. It may make no sense at all on the surface, but I assure you that there is no file size difference between an MP3 file encoded in mono, stereo, or joint stereo at the same bit rate. Bit rate and duration are the only things that determine MP3 file size. And if you're using joint stereo, there's no quality difference, either. In fact it's better to always select joint stereo, even if your source signal is mono, because mono MP3 files cause glitches in some MP3 players. See similar questions...

What's the difference between the stereo and mono versions? What about the 5.1 mix?

When Fox released the movie on video, rather than working from the original mono soundtrack, they decided to use the stereo release of the music soundtrack. Since the DVD and the 25th anniversary video release don't include this imperfect stereo mix, but instead a newly remixed 5.1 soundtrack, we can probably kiss it goodbye. We can only hope Fox will strike some new prints with the new remixed 5.1 soundtrack, which was mixed from the original mono stems. See similar questions...
