You may obtain a copy from the court where the divorce became final, Or you can obtain one with your Town Clerk’s office. To obtain a copy from the Town Clerks office the divorce must have been finalized between 1990 and six months prior to the request. Divorce Decree Certificate Application

Divorce Decrees are filed within this office. Bring with you your index number, date of the action, and title of the action. Please be advised, only the parties involved or the attorney of record can obtain these documents. The fee for a certified copy of these records is $5.00 minimum for the first 4 pages and $1.25 for each additional page. If you are unable to come to the Office of the County Clerk, please send us your request in writing with your signature notarized.

Answer - A certified copy of a divorce decree may be obtained in the Certifications Unit of the Office of the Prothonotary, Room 266, City Hall. The fee is $30.00.

If you were divorced in Erie County you can get a copy in our office. The cost is 25 cents per page and $1.00 to certify the document. Have your Case number ready when requesting copies.

If you request a copy by mail, please include your case number (if you know it), the names of the parties, the year the divorce was filed and your return address. The average cost for the certified copy and postage is $5.00. If you include a check in that amount, we will bill you for any additional fee if the cost is more.

Divorce records are generally in two parts: DIVORCE RECORDS & DIVORCE DECREES and are available through the Alaska Court System only. DIVORCE CERTIFICATES are available through the Bureau of Vital Statistics. DIVORCE RECORD: A divorce record is all of the pages filed in a divorce. In some divorce settlements the records can be several pages long. DIVORCE DECREE: A divorce decree is a ruling that summarizes the rights and responsibilities of the divorced parties.

If all the paperwork is in order and the defendant has signed all required documents before the final decree is scheduled to be signed, only the plaintiff (the person who filed the initial petition) must appear in court.

A final decree is a list of all water rights in a basin, as finally adjudicated or granted, and includes all federal and Indian reserved rights in the basin.

Call the Clerk of Courts in the county where you were divorced and ask them to send you a copy of your decree. They may charge a small fee to make copies.

A copy of a document filed in your divorce case can generally be obtained from the Judicial District Clerk's Office in the court location where the divorce took place. The Clerk's Office will need your case name and docket number (the number that was assigned to the case), and there are fees for copying and certifying.

Your divorce is final on the date of the divorce hearing. Unless the court makes an exception for an emergency, at least four months (120 days) must pass between the serving of the initial papers (or filing of the joint petition) and the final divorce hearing. Most divorces take longer than four months. You are not free to marry, in Wisconsin or another State, for six months after the divorce is final.
