Susie, the first Scottish Fold cat, was discovered in 1961 in the Tayside Region of Scotland, at a farm near Coupar Angus. She was a white barn cat with ears that folded downward and forward on her head. Her face resembled an "owl" or an "otter's face". A shepherd by the name of William Ross first noticed Susie's unique ears at a neighbor's barn. Since William and his wife Mary were Cat Fanciers they were fascinated with Susie.

First, knowledge is power. If you are trying to breed a particular fish, consult a good reference book, a knowledgeable pet shop or a local aquarium society-- like GCCA!. Many fish have very specific requirements; others will breed at the drop of a hat, under the most adverse conditions. Provide suitable habitat; large enough with appropriate type spawning sites for the type of fish being kept Start out with more that a pair.

The Spanish brought Andalusians (with Spanish/North African Barb blood) and the Spanish Jennet (a smooth-gaited riding horse of the old world) and carefully blended these in Peru to create the Peruvian Paso Horse-designated a "National Treasure" in Peru.

Color: "Every color you have ever seen, and a few you haven't." Solid colors prevail. Bay, chestnut, gray, roan, palomino, black, etc. (Rarely pintos, no appaloosas.) Appearance: Large eyes, long mane and tail, good solid body, strong, yet refined legs, high headset (proud) when in action, rounded croup and low tail set. Termino": The natural showy outward rolling of the front limbs when the horse is moving foreword. Pasos are born with this characteristic.

Another place to find information about Scottish Folds and breeders is to contact the International Scottish Fold Association. This is a CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) affiliated breed club. If you send a #10 SASE to ISFA, 12500 Skyline Dr., Burnsville, MN, 55337-2920, they will send you information on the breed itself and a list of member breeders.

There is a great deal of responsibility involved in breeding a dog. Hopefully, it is not just something that happens', but is preceded by a great deal of research and veterinary testing.

The official and correct name of the breed is "Randall". This is the only name used by the Registry since its inception. History: Since the rescue of the Randalls from the Randall farm in 1985, and the re-rescue by Cynthia Creech in 1987, several names have been applied to the cattle, "Randall Lineback", "Randall Blue", "Randall Blue Lineback", and "Randall".

TICA has recognized the Bengal, and there are many Champion Bengals. Our Breeding program has Bengals of champion blood. Only recently, the summer of 1997, has ACFA once again allowed Bengals show status. Years back some unscrupulous breeders passed off foundation cats as Bengals. At one of CFA's shows a foundation cat was unruly and Bengals were yanked from the shows. Everyone paid the price, and only now has the wrong been righted.

What kind of personality do you want in your fish? Some cichlids are quiet and sedate, others are aggressive and territorial. Cichlid behavior is fascinating to watch and we shouldn't make value judgements that aggressive fish are bad. . . they are just following nature.

Many cichlid species are easy to breed for the beginners Most cichlids do best in a species tank, as virtually all cichlids can get aggressive during spawning. Here are two examples of cichlids that are fairly easy to breed, but there are many others. This substrate spawning fish spawns readily and at a young age. We've seen them spawning in pet shop tanks! The traditional striped and a pink variety are available. Provide a flat piece of rock for spawning.

First consult one of the many books available on African Cichlids, a knowledgeable pet shop or a local aquarium society such as GCCA. GCCA's library offers books on breeding cichlids. Most African Cichlids are mouthbrooders. Some are egg layers, however the vast majority are mouthbrooders. This means that fertilization and fry development takes place in the female's mouth. Most mouthbrooders are harem spawners, in which the male mates with as many females as he can.

Conformation, and temperament should always be the first concern of a breeder. Size is of concern only when you are trying to make sure your animals fall within a LIMIT (use donkeys under 34 inches if you want 30-33" donkeys, or make sure that the difference in height is not TOO great between the two parents (such as using s 34" jack on a 28" jennet) but color should always be considered a bonus.

We have applied for AKC recognition and are waiting for a response at the present time. We have had many people who are wanting to breed the Klee Kai, who also want to be able to show our dogs, thus the application. We are also looking at some people in other countries who want to get involved in the breed but cannot use any other venue besides AKC and FIC to show their dogs.
