Roommate assignment information is sent out in early August. We realize that some schools send out assignment information much earlier, but at this time, we are operationally unable to do this. However, you will have plenty of time to be in touch with your new roommates before school begins. Just a reminder- We will not make any changes in regard to roommates once assignments are sent out until at least two weeks after the school year begins, and this is only space permitting.

New students will be notified of their room assignment and given the name(s) of their roommate(s) when they attend a summer SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) Session during June.

The first large assignment mailing for fall 2007 will be mailed June 1, 2007. Thereafter, assignment letters are mailed out as soon as assignments are made. If your room is assigned before your roommate(s) is/are assigned, you will receive a second letter when your roommate assignment is made. You will also receive a letter should any other change become necessary.

Room assignments are arranged through the Housing Services office, based on the information on the Housing forms completed by each resident student. Roommates are assigned with consideration to geographic region, interests and areas of study. If two students desire to share a room during Pre-College, each should request the other on their housing forms. We will do our best to accommodate these requests, but roommate requests are not guaranteed.

For the Fall semester, we will mail out assignments beginning on June 25th and every two weeks thereafter.

Each year we send the housing assignment letters no later than July 1st to new students who are deposited with the University as of May 1st of that year.

Assignments for new students can be checked by going online and logging in to their PAWS account. Start at www.lsu.edu/housing, select "Incoming Students", click "Room Assignment/Roomate Status", log in to PAWS and click "View Housing Status".

Housing assignments begin to be mailed at the end of June and continue to be mailed throughout the summer until all are sent. Housing deposits are nonrefundable after June 1.

No. Because the summer is extremely busy and all the houses are not empty during the summer, it is impossible for us to show houses and rooms.

Answer: You must have submitted a completed on-campus living application packet. Bed assignments are subject to the following: April 1 – Best opportunity to receive housing and a bed assignment in early June. See Waiting List section for additional information.
