There are no plans to add support for saving directly in SRT or SSA. Aegisub is an ASS editor and as such, ASS is the working format. You are encouraged to save all working copies in ASS, and only export for another format when you actually need it. This is an unfortunate result of the infamous b-frame lag that older versions of ffdshow (and DivX with "smooth playback" enabled) has. Upgrading to the newest CCCP (and not decoding DivX with DivX) will solve your problems as it now has a fixed ffdshow.
