A ) Tori was born in Newton, North Carolina (near Hickory). She now lives in London, England, but has a house in New Mexico.

Named herself after the Torrey pine -- a small, crooked, and rare tree which grows in Southern California Derived her name from the word 'noTORIous,' for always wearing red leather pants when teaching Sunday School for her father's church [a] One of her friend's boyfriends, after hearing her play in a club, said to her "You don't look like an 'Ellen,' you look more like a Tori."(@) [b] The truth is actually a combination of them. The last comment (her friends boyfriend) did actually take place.

A ) The Tori food list, by whatever name it can be found, is a list of foods that Tori has mentioned in some way, in an interview, in a song, etc. Most Toriphiles use the Tori food list as a menu of what to eat at any ToriFESTs that are held - kind of like a list of kosher food to eat at the special occation. ;)

A ) There have been rumors as to who Tori is dating now, including the lead singer of R.E.M., Michael Stipe (who's shown up at a few Tori concerts of late), Andrew Eldritch (lead singer for 'Sisters of Mercy' [o], Mark Pickering {from 'Other Voices') [p], and a guy from England (who's nobody famous...)

A ) Nope. Pictures of a younger Tori reveal she's actually a brunette. In a recent on-line interview on Prodigy(tm), Tori revealed the number and brand of hair dye she uses.

A ) Nope. Tori is very much heterosexual. However, she has stated that meeting k.d. lang made her stop and think about it for a minute.

A ) Ellen Amos graduated in 1981 from : Richard Montgomery High School 250 Richard Montgomery Drive Rockville, Maryland 20852 (301)-279-8400 She is spoken of at times. During an English assignment to recite poetry, one kid recited the lyrics to "Silent All These Years" and mentioned that she was a 1981 RM graduate. A foreign language teacher once reminisced in class that she used to annoy everyone by singing all the time.

A ) Tori's working on the score of Neil Gaiman's _Sandman_ series which will be going on Audio Book (can someone please verify this...), and has new stuff out: Duet w/Tom Jones "I Wanna Get Back with You" [h] Duet w/Michael Stipe to come out on the _Don Juan de Marco and the Centerfold_ (however, this project has been indefinately shelved. It might come out on another album [2]).

A ) So far, Tori has videos for "Crucify," "Winter", "Silent all these Years", "China", and "God", "Pretty Good Year", 2 videos for "Cornflake Girl", and "Past the Mission". A ) Pink Earthquakes is a box set containing a 48-page color book (about the size of a vinyl record) with a discography, and many pictures of Tori, 4 color postcards, a certificate of authenticity (#/2000), and *usually* either LE or UtP (the record store decides), although some have been sold without a CD.

A ) Before making Little Earthquakes, Tori was in an LA-based rock band called Y Kant Tori Read. They produced a self-titled album in 1988 which was a critical and commercial failure. Opinions on this album are divided: some of people consider it to be just a mediocre radio-orientated rock album, while others think that there is still some very good music there, though it is partly obscured by the heavy rock production.

A ) Time Out ran a few lines in its diary last week, asking "Is Tori Amos a couple of keys short of a full piano?" This was prompted by Amos telling a journalist that she had been visited by the ghostly presence of Anastasia Romanov, who wanted her story told in a song. Amos recounted the same incident to me. It had happened in October 1992, she said, just before a concert in Richmond, Virginia. She had food poisoning at the time. I was feeling so sick that I wanted to be put out of my misery.

A ) Another question that can stir up some deep emotion. Kate Bush is a female musician who doesn't fit the norm, and has been creating new and different music for quite some time. When LE was released, a great deal of reviewers compared Tori to Kate, as both are female, both make different-sounding music, etc. With the release of UtP, people still feel the need to compare Tori to Kate, and that doesn't sit good with quite a few Toriphiles.

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.' She reads it in a monotone which makes it hard to follow, but reading along with the verse it's very clear that it matches. (+)

Yes. Yes I do. I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan. (And a Terry Pratchett fan, which I just thought I'd add.) Does it show? :)
