Sometimes this problem is caused by media incompatibility issues. If a DVD/CD does not play or work after you have burned the medium, choose another medium type or brand and repeat the burning process. Eventually, you may have to lower the burning speed. Many writers are not compatible with cheap or old media (blanks). The quality of some blanks is actually so bad, that the specified maximum speed cannot be reached in most cases. Find a combination of writer, disc and player that work together.

Quicktime and Quicktime Pro do not include support for MPEG-2 playback. To play MPEG-2 media using Quicktime you need an MPEG-2 Playback Component. or in our Mac SVCD Software Bundle (includes iVCD, MacVCD X and an MPEG-2 Playback component for $44.95US)

If you want to put many of Roy's lectures onto one CD and play them back in the car, at home or on your walkman, it's probably best to buy MP3 audios.

First of all, please turn off your anti-virus software and other burning applications which might access the CD/DVD units at the same time. Try a different brand of recordable media. The compability of DVD discs is various and burning DVD-Video is very sensitive to the DVD disc. Here is the information on DVD media compability http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia . We recommend you use 4x or 8x DVD+R for burning. Another problem can be you are not using the right type of disc for your player.

First of all: Make sure you're not playing your DVD's on a CD player (yes it's happened to several of my customers). You must have a DVD drive. Make sure that you have DVD software installed on your computer (with your DVD player). For example InterVideo WinDVD or MediaMatics. Try download.com and search for DVD player. For Video CD, your DVD player must be capable of playing VideoCD 2.0 discs. Check the specifications page in the instructions included with your DVD player to see if the VCD format is supported. Your DVD player must be compatible with the type of DVD or CD disc used to record your title. Many DVD players are not compatible with some brands of -R, -RW, +R or +RW discs. Your DVD player must support the speed at which you burned your media.

Make sure you are using CD-R disks, not CD-RW disks - very few CD audio players can recognise CD-RW disks at all. Make sure you are burning single session audio CDs with your software - audio CD players won't, for the most part, recognise data CDs or multi-session CDs. If you are burning single-session audio CDs on CD-R media and they still won't play on your audio CD players, then I'm afraid it looks as if your burner just can't produce disks that your audio players can read.

If the copied DVD is a DVD?RW, try copying the source DVD to a DVD?R disc which is compatible with more models of DVD drives and DVD players.

Make sure your player can play the disc you are trying to play and that you're not playing a region-coded disc in a player from another region or trying to play a PAL disc in an NTSC-only player (or vice versa). See #1 for more info. If you truly have a defective disc, please refer to our store policies for return info.

Both! (And, technically, since we send you two copies of your completed project on DVD, you could play one on your computer and one of your TV at the same time... though, honestly, we have no idea why you would want to do that.) We use the highest quality DVD-R media, and DVD-R discs play on almost all DVD players manufactured in the last few years. If you aren't sure, note the model of your DVD player and check its compatibility with "DVD-R" using this online tool.

While VCD, SVCD, DVD, MPEG1, MPEG2, DVD-R, and CD-R are widely accepted worldwide standards, we do not guarantee that our media will playback on your specific systems. You are responsible for resolving any compatibility issues between your DVD player and our CD or DVD-R media and audio / video formats. Please refer to your owner's manual, other third-party compatibility lists, or your equipment manufacturer.

If you purchased your player in the last 2 to 3 years, you will have no problem playing your DVD in your DVD player on on a computer that has a DVD drive. If your DVD and it does not work with your player, simply return the DVD to us, and we'll exchange it for a VHS copy.

Nearly all DVD players are DVD-R compatible. Particularly those sold in the last couple of years. You should check your individual model for compatibility before ordering. If you have an older DVD player that is not DVD-R compatible you might want to treat yourself a more modern machine that will accept all formats. They can be bought for under $50.00.
