There are several ways to obtain a restraining order against someone. You may want to consult with a private attorney, and have them represent you. If you cannot afford to hire a private attorney, you may ask the Legal Aid Services located in Ottumwa by calling 641-683-3166 for assistance. Finally, in cases of domestic abuse, a victim can go directly to the Clerk of Court Office and get assistance with the paperwork.

You can request a Restraining Order against a person who has hurt or threatened you, or other family members, by going to the Marin County Civic Center. You may pick up the paperwork for requesting civil harassment restraining orders between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Request a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) at the Superior Court at the location and time given above.

If you need to get a Emergency Protective Order against another individual you need to contact Harlan Circuit Court Clerk's Office located in the Harlan Justice Center.

Restraining orders are issued through Summit County Courts. If there is a harassment problem, first report that problem to the jurisdictional law enforcement agency where the harassment is occurring.

The court that has jurisdiction of the restraining order may release information to you, however, we consider the information a privacy issue and therefore, confidential and not for public release.

You would have to have been personally served to make it valid, and presumably, you would know about it.

A written petition for a restraining order must be filed in the superior court. If the defendant resides in the state of Georgia, the petition must be filed in the county of the defendant's residence.
