Yes. Kaleidescape Players and Readers are only able to read Region 1 DVDs as shipped. The installer can use the Web Utility to set these components to any other region, but it is not possible to set them to be region-free, and you can only change the region of a given component up to four times. These restrictions are dictated by Kaleidescape's CSS License Agreement with the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc. You can have multiple Players and Readers in the same System set to different regions.

You need to be able to either change the Regional Code on your player or switch it be become 'multi-region'. If you own a PC, you can easily download software that allows you to switch between Regions. If you own a stand-alone player, it is can be slightly more difficult. Many players can be 'hacked', usually by pressing a sequence of buttons on the remote and there are many websites that list such hacks. In short, no. The only way you will be able to play DVDs from the UK, which is Region 2, is if your DVD player allows you to play all regions. There are some DVD players that allow you to cheat, and play all regions. Sometimes computer DVD players will play all regions. If you are shown a screen stating that there has been a Region Error when you try to load your DVD disc, this means that the disc you are attempting to play contains a Region Code which is different to that of your DVD player (also meaning that your DVD player is not Multi-Region compatible) and so the disc will not run on this machine. Unless otherwise stated in the item description, all of our DVD's are encoded for play in at least Region 1 (sometimes 2 & 4 also), which is the North American DVD region. We do have a few Japanese import DVD's that are encoded for Region 2, which is Japan and Europe. Also, all of our DVD's are NTSC video format, as opposed to PAL format commonly used in Europe.
