Freestanding stoves can also connect to an existing fireplace chimney, if the height and position of the stove's flue collar permits it. When this type of installation is done, the stoves may be called hearth stoves.

Please make sure the flue is open before starting fire. NEVER remove hot ashes or partially burned loges. Please leave the ashes in the fireplace even if you are sure they are cold. It's easier to build a fire with a bed of ashes. If it becomes absolutely necessary to remove the cold ashes, use a metal container only. (Anything flammable, such as a paper bag or cardboard box, even if you are positive the ashes are cold, is extremely dangerous.

Unfortunately, no. You will need a wood pellet stove but if you don’t already have one, the savings you will realize in heating your home will more than pay for the stove. If you are using the wood flooring plans that we have provided, we recommend that you create a rock or sand hearth to put your stove on. To install your stove on the hearth, follow manufacturer’s instructions and local building codes. Each dome is equipped with a metal stove flashing. The piping will run from your stove through the flashing and above your dome. All of the piping that is used in association with the stove should be double walled pipe.

It is always advised to use a HETAS approved installtion engineer. If is however the person carrying out the installtion is not on the approved list you will have to seek authority from your local 'Building Control' office. If your stove outlet ID is about 1/8" larger than the size pipe you are looking at (ie: 6" pipe = 6 1/8" inside diameter outlet), then yes.
