What is ionization?

Water Ionizer FAQ
Ionization is the process of converting liquids or particles wholly or partly into ions, it simply means gaining or losing an electron. Ionized water is water that has undergone the process of ionization through a water ionizer. Ionized water either becomes alkaline or acid, meaning that minerals have been segregated accordingly and the pH has been adjusted up or down. Pure distilled water does not ionize, and so is useless for ionization.

Does it do negative ionization?

Salin FAQ
The dry sodium chloride (salt) aerosol has a considerable level of negative charge of the particles and this is leading to a negative ionization of the air surrounding the salt ions. Also, the inner surfaces of airways have a slight positive charge. Negatively charged particles of dry sodium chloride aerosol move in the lumen of respiratory tract and settle more intensively compared to neutral particles. In addition, the negative charge increases aerosol stability.

How do you know if ionization is taking place?

Ideal Distributors Limited - IDS Copper Silver Ion Faqs
Every IDS ion system includes a test kit that can measure a precise amount of copper ions in the water. A single test should be done a minimum of once a week in the hot summer months. The test only takes a couple of minutes. After the tablet is added to the water sample, you compare the color to a chart on the test kit to determine the copper ion level. This test is called a colorimetric test.

What is the difference between ozone and ionization?

Blue Air Products - F.A.Q.
The four most effective methods of purifying the air we breath are: ultraviolet light, active oxygen, purifying hydroxyls, and negative ions. Ultraviolet light produces all of these odor fighters. Ionizers, by themselves, create negative ions which attach themselves to solid particles, such as dust, pollen, soot, smoke, etc.. This particulate then drops from suspension to form a harmless dust. Ionizers alone will not eliminate 100% of the odor causing contaminates.

Do all air ionization products emit ozone with the ionization?

Air Ionization Frequently Asked Questions about ionizers
To a very small degree, yes. Pentex ionizers ozone levels are virtually undetectable compared to many competitors units that give off odors and cause headaches for the user.

Do air ionization products go through walls?

Air Ionization Frequently Asked Questions about ionizers
No, regardless of how powerful the ionizer is, air ionization cannot go through walls. If a manufacturer or distributor claims their ionizers can go through walls, it is ozone that is going through the wall. You should investigate the ozone levels extensively before purchasing.

What is the principle of operation of a Flame Ionization Detector?

Teledyne Analytical Instruments | FAQ
We are installing a 1223B with dual sensors per channel for an H2 plant. Is it possible to simulate a signal check for each channel module? If so, please advise the signal type and its equivalent range to 0-100% LEL.

How do you control the actual amount of ionization taking place?

Ideal Distributors Limited - IDS Copper Silver Ion Faqs
The electrodes are connected to a control panel which governs the system. By increasing the output of the system, you increase the amount of ions dispensed into the water. Buy reducing the out put you reduce the number of ions dispensed. A more detailed explanation is available on the setup & operation of the IDS ion systems.

How does copper-silver ionization work?

Thomson Tec - Pool, spa, and fountain water purification sys...
A set of electrodes, made up of an anode and cathode are placed in a flow cell. This flow cell is placed in-line with the circulation system. A controller provides a low voltage, alternating DC current. This is passed between the anode and cathode. The voltage causes some of the outermost atoms of the anode to lose an electron, thus becoming positive ions, which attempt to flow across to the cathode. In this process, the ions are carried away by the flow of water.

Does Pentex have a commercial size ionization unit for large office buildings?

Air Ionization Frequently Asked Questions about ionizers
No, the VI-2500 is the largest capacity ionizer available from Pentex. If you have large office areas, strategically placed room / environmental ionizers can effectively do a much better job of ionization than HVAC units with ionization components and for much less expense.
