If the proper size fuse is used (check the wiring diagrams in Haynes for the correct size), but keeps blowing, that should tell you something! The circuit, for whatever reason, is drawing more current than it should be! There is some possibility of there being a short to ground, but if the fuel pump (and car) is running, then suspect the fuel pump.

One symptom of a bad pump, broken hose, and/or clogged screen is engine misses at high power under severe cornering at progressively higher fuel quantities. A good system will run on a track all the way to 'empty' without problem. If the problem is not tied to cornering or gas level, there's a possibility of simply a clogged fuel filter. The fuel filter is located in the engine compartment near the air filter; the pump is bolted to the rear fender behind the right rear wheel.

One or more of the electric control valves has a shorted solenoid, or there is a short in the wiring. If you have a multi meter or volt meter you can check your wiring and solenoids for shorts and continuity. Otherwise, try switching another solenoid from a functioning valve to see if the problem valve will turn on. If so, replace the solenoid. If not, you may have to replace the wiring. Check the transformer for output (24VAC). Push the red power reset button or verify that the fuse is good.

OK, the new "ally" lights work great, but I've blown two fuses in two days. But they work great when the fuses are intact. It seems the fuse blows if I start the engine with the high beams (and the Rally) lights turned on. I don't know about the other years, but the '02 Dakar has the lights shut down while cranking, and then they come back on after the engine fires up. This is when the 15A in-line fuse seems to blow.

Black smoke is raw gasoline burning. A rich condition can be the cause by a heavy or mis-adjusted float, a choke stuck shut, a bad oxygen sensor, a bad map sensor, a bad fuel pressure regulator, a plugged up air filter or a bad injector. Typically, if you only get black smoke first thing in the morning, it has to do with the choke or the fuel enrichment portion of your fuel injection system. If you get black smoke all the time, get it fixed NOW.

Fuel pump requirement calculations can be seen in the Fuel injector sizing question, but a good rule of thumb is to get the biggest intank pump you can. We recommend the Holley 255lph forced induction pump or equivalent. These pumps flow 50gph@60psi compared to 30gph@60psi of a standard 255lph pump.

If it's not your engines tuning, jerking is usually the result of a faulty fuel pump. Follow the same procedure above to listen for the fuel pump.

In most cases, a vehicles failure to start is usually caused by a faulty , battery, alternator, starter, or fuel pump. If the first three of these parts are determined to be working properly, have someone listen for a vibrating sound that the fuel pump should make near your gas tank when your engine is running. In some vehicles you may be able to hear this sound better by turning the ignition key barely enough to start the engine.

The most likely cause is an overload and in winter portable heaters and clothes dryers generally cause this problem. The best solution is to look at each circuit and see what your loading is. Firstly look at the size of your circuit, for power it will be generally be 15,16 or 20 amps. Next multiply your circuit amps by 240 volts, this will give the maximum loading in watts that the circuit will carry without overloading it.

If your Heat Pump appears to under perform - the first thing to try is cleaning the filters with your vacuum cleaner. These need to be cleaned once a fortnight. Simply by cleaning the filters can make a huge difference.

The Marina does have a coin operated (quarters) pump out station located at the north end of the Marina. The marina does not have a fuel pump.

The engine uses "jet A" or kerosene. We could use other kinds, but we're currently undecided as to exactly what we will use. This is the standard fuel used.

A high pressure pump capable of 60 PSI is required. For gasoline, the Aeromotive A1000 is good for 1000 HP NA. For Alky, you need a belt drive pump. Fuel pump choice is critical to the success of an EFI system, so consult with us before purchasing.

Generally speaking, no. Turning up the fuel may cause the engine to smoke and violate emission standards. On some engines there are performance options which will improve the performance of your engine without violating emission standards. These options may include such things as improving the way your engine breaths by altering the air intake or exhaust system, improved turbocharger housing design, and altering the timing and torque curve of the fuel pump.

We have had excellent results from the Holley Blue Pump. We typical buy the rebuild kit which comes with two springs. We switch to the light spring for alcohol. We've also found that the blue pump performs extremely well for our application on alcohol. Most racing pumps these days have already been made alcohol compatible due to percentages of ethanol in many gasolines.

When using an in-tank fuel pump, use fuel pump P/N 25163473. Frame-mounted external fuel pumps need to supply 200 pounds per hour of fuel at 58 psi.

The conveyor belts are "v" shaped which helps contain the product. The operator also controls the speed the product drops onto the conveyor belt which also helps keep it contained.
