First, locate a file called serverprefs.cs. Load it with notepad, locate a line reading $Server::Master2 = "IP:Broadcast:28001"; , and change it to $Server::Master2 = "IPX:Broadcast:28001"; . If you want to use both IPX and TCP/IP (latter one is required for internet play), leave the Master2 line alone, and instead add the line $Server::Master3 = "IPX:Broadcast:28001"; below it. This suggestion came from GotMilk?, a member of the Tribes devteam, but we have not yet heard if it has worked.

Make sure that all computers have the same subnet mask, 255.0.0.0, and that all computers have been given an IP address. Usually the first three numbers in the IP address are same for all computers in your LAN, and the last number is unique. Your LAN router needs to be configured with port forwarding to send relevant data coming back into your LAN from the internet, to the correct computer. This requires the IP address of that machine to be entered on your router configuration. Only one IP address can be entered for port forwarding, so only one machine can have this set up. You can do this in (at least) two ways. The first way is to load up a DOS box, going to your Tribes directory and typing in tribes -dedicated.
