The most likely suspects are sun-tan lotion which, among other ingredients, contain a red or yellow color additive. Left untreated, the sun evaporates the liquid from these lotions, and "burns" the color into the strap. The same effect may come from common rain water, which contains a small amount of dirt. There is no known technique for correcting for purple fringe. However, you can hide it. The basic idea is to selectively desaturate the regions and color ranges involved. This will have the effect of replacing the purple fringe with a gray fringe, which is often far less objectionable. If you're facile with image editing software, you can figure this out for yourself. We have left ColicCalm's rich dark color as Mother Nature intended, without any "pretty" coloring to alter its purity and efficacy. While the microfine particles of vegetable charcoal do not contain any dye, they can get lodged between fabric fibers and may require gentle manipulation to loosen. This is a difficult question to answer effectively. There are so many products on the market that people say do NOT work. Wiping a dog's eyes out daily helps a lot. Food can be the culprit. There are many preservatives and additives in commercial dog foods that can cause reactions in some pets. Feeding a more natural diet seems to help tremendously.
