The pigments or dyes in Oatey Purple Primer and Purple Primer/Cleaner are permanent. Depending on the type of material stained and its porosity, and the length of time the stain has set, it may be possible to remove or lighten the stain. We recommend blotting a clean, dry towel with Oatey Clear Cleaner to attempt to remove the stain. It may not be possible to remove the colorant from particular fabrics or surfaces. From Your Cupboard: Mix cream of tartar with enough lemon juice to make a fairly thick paste. Apply paste to stain and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Wipe paste off with a damp cloth. The most likely suspects are sun-tan lotion which, among other ingredients, contain a red or yellow color additive. Left untreated, the sun evaporates the liquid from these lotions, and "burns" the color into the strap. The same effect may come from common rain water, which contains a small amount of dirt. The best way to prevent stains is to soak or rinse GladRags immediately in cold water so the stains do not set. The color pads, however, don't stain very much. There is no known technique for correcting for purple fringe. However, you can hide it. The basic idea is to selectively desaturate the regions and color ranges involved.
