Rhino Deck® composite deckingis 50% wood, therefore like traditional wood, care needs to be taken not to scratch or damage the surface. The color of Rhino Deck® is consistent throughout the product; most scratches will fade and tone down in 8-10 weeks, depending on sun exposure.

Rhino Deck® can be stained by food, grease, rusty metal, and objects that trap water. Use the same precautions you would on a wood deck for minimized staining. Generally, most dirt and grime can be removed with a high pressure water hose and a deck cleaner that contains oxalic acid, such as a Flood's Deckswood.

When shoveling off snow, use a plastic shovel to avoid gouging the finish. Ice and snow will melt off Rhino Deck if calcium chloride or rock salt is applied. Be sure to rinse off calcium chloride or rock salt later to avoid surface residue build-up. Expansion/Contraction: Allow at least 5/16" minimum gap between sides of boards allowing for thermal expansion and water drainage.

Edeck® is composite decking made up of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) polymer, rice hulls as the cellulose and other functional additives.

Edeck® uses rice hulls which are an agricultural waste product that would normally be disposed in a landfill. We mix rice hulls with HDPE into a compoun.d which is 100% recyclable for processing. Our polymers are virgin so as to assure consistent quality in the finished deck board. No. Edeck® requires no water repellents, stain or special cleaners. Edeck® may be cleaned with water and a mild detergent when normal dirt and pollutants coat the surface of Edeck®.

Portico Composite Decking requires no paint or stain, although oil-based paints or stains can be applied in 90 to 180 days if desired. Generally, wood composites do not absorb or retain paint and stain as well as natural wood. Fiber Composites advises consumers to test application of paint or stain on Portico Composite Decking before applying.

Simply follow a few common sense rules and you will keep your Premier Decking looking beautiful and clean. Make sure your deckboards are sufficiently gapped or spaced. This will help prevent water from pooling on the surface of your deck and staining it. Using a flat tool, when necessary, you should clean out the expansion gaps between the boards to ensure proper drainage. Wash down your deck periodically with a hose, even it if appears to be clean.

Because your deck is exposed to the elements, a periodic cleaning is needed to prevent mold, mildew and algae. Pollen, leaves and dirt on your deck are a good food source for bacteria to grow. Depending on the location a good sweep and scrubbing the deck with water and a detergent is in most cases all that is needed.

Scratches cannot be prevented, as is the case on any surface that is subjected to foot traffic. But, weathering will fade the new "sheen" on your Portico Composite Decking and scratches will appear less visible.

All polymer materials will expand and contract more than wood. Rice hulls are added for strength and to minimize expansion. Edeck® will expand and contract 1/8” for every 20 degrees of temperature variation; this must be considered when installing Edeck®. All composite and other building materials fade. Edeck® will fade to a lighter shade within weeks of exposure to ultraviolet rays but will retain the original color hue.

Yes. Because Edeck® uses rice hulls instead of wood fiber, it won’t absorb moisture like wood based products. This means Edeck® swells significantly less than other composites. However, it is advisable to install the deck surface at least 12” above the ground to allow for proper air circulation.

Crystalline chlorine powder or pellets may bleach Portico Composite Decking if subject to prolong contact.
