A judgment can be enforced by taking the debtor's property in an amount equal to the total debt. Property that may be subject to a judgment could include money in a bank account, personal property owned by the debtor, a vehicle owned by the debtor, real property owned by the debtor, etc. Once judgment is granted Notice of Rights and Motion to Exempt Property are sent to the debtor giving them the opportunity to have certain property exempt from the collection of the judgment.

The owner, manager or operator of an area open to the public covered by the act must make a reasonable effort to prevent smoking. The Illinois Department of Public Health, state-certified local public health departments and local law enforcement agencies will enforce the law.

The Town does not have a police force. State laws are enforced by the Sauk County Sheriff. Because the Town does not have a police department, we also do not have ticketing authority. Forfeitures are requested by the Town Board or the Town Administrator. Failure to pay these forfeitures then leads to court action. The clerk of circuit court for each county is responsible for maintaining a judgment and lien docket for that county. The judgment and lien docket may consist of several sources: (a) In most counties, recent records are maintained electronically by entry into the CCAP case management system. Current filings may be viewed on public access terminals located in the office of the clerk of circuit court. Some clerks also make entries into a paper docket kept in the clerk's office.
