How do I Heat Set my fabric stamping?

FAQs
Yes, you must Heat Set both fabric inks and fabric paints when your stamped images are completely dry: do not be impatient! A hot, dry iron is required and you'll need to iron for about 2 minutes on each area that you have stamped, using a press cloth if you like. For best results iron on BOTH sides of the fabric and let your fabric 'set' for a week or two before washing it. Following this procedure is very important to help prevent any fading of the ink or paint that you have stamped.

Do I have to heat set my project?

NO! One of the greatest things about Simply Spray is that it sets itself! You do not need to iron or put it in the dryer! Just wait 72 hours before washing!

What is the difference between Iron-on Fabric Sheets and Cold-Peel Iron-on Transfer Sheets?

Janlynn Corporation
When you use the Fabric Sheet, the design is printed on fabric and that entire piece of fabric is ironed on to your crafting material. This is good for Memory Quilts, Pillows, Wall Hangings, etc. - anything that won't need frequent washings, as the Fabric Sheets cannot be laundered unless they are treated with several coats of acrylic sealer. The Cold-Peel product is a transfer that transfers the printed image directly onto your crafting fabric surface.

What are heat transfers (also called iron-ons)?

Help & Frequently Asked Questions at Transfer Nation
Vintage heat transfer iron-ons were made from plastisol ink that was printed onto special transfer paper. The ink was printed in reverse on the paper and coated with fine adhesives to help it adhere to the t-shirt. A professional grade heat press is then required to release the transfer design from the paper and adhere it to the t-shirt.

The key to good application results lies in your ability to heat apply transfers with the correct temperature, time and pressure as provided by each transfer paper's manufacturer.

How do I stencil on fabric?

StenSource International: Frequently Asked Questions
Before stenciling the fabric, wash and dry it according to label instructions. This will remove the sizing (chemical coating) in new fabric. If the sizing is not removed, your stencil paint will not bond well with the material. When stenciling on fabric, it is much easier if you can keep the fabric from moving around. Do this by using a light coat of spray adhesive on a piece of cardboard that is about 2" larger than the piece of fabric you want to stencil.

Muskeget FAQ
There is an excellent wood stove with a not-so-excellent chimney. The problem was that the chimney had a good sized crack in it, which we repaired with aluminum foil! How do I clean rust off iron?

Frequently Asked Questions for letterpress
The way we remove rust from machined iron surfaces at the foundry, is with plenty of solvent (or diesel oil) and a scotch brite pad. Wear rubber gloves so you don't dry out your fingers. When the metal is shiny, wipe on a coating of oil to protect it. For areas that cannot be oiled, because of paper contact, try Johnson's Paste Wax. Rub it on heavy, and don't polish it off. It will self-polish, and protect in the mean time.
