Once the defendant is back into custody the bond can be surrendered and your liability will be terminated. There are a few problems here if you decided to surrender the bond you will lose the premium that was paid, and if you decided to get the defendant out on bond again, you will now have to post two new bonds and pay the premium on both bonds again. If you do not surrender the bond, most likely only the premium for the new arrest will be required.

You must come to court on your court date. Oftentimes, you will be given a court date upon release from jail. At other times, your bonding company will provide you with a court date; it is important to maintain regular contact with your bonding company. On occasion, neither the jail nor your bonding company will provide you with a court date. In this event it is your responsibility to contact them for this information.

When a Durham police officer arrests someone, he/she may be taken to headquarters or to a police substation for questioning and processing. After any questioning is completed, they will be transported to the Durham County Jail, where a magistrate will determine the conditions of their release. If you are arrested for breaking a criminal law, the case is taken before a judge or magistrate who may issue a warrant if necessary and set bond for appearance in court. If the defendant cannot post the bond he may be incarcerated pending appearance in court. If bond is posted, he will remain free pending appearance at an arraignment. An arraignment usually occurs within 24 hours of the arrest or the first date available if on a weekend or holiday. The arraignment is held before a judge.

Left without treatment, pus builds up at the root tip, in the jawbone, forming a "pus-pocket" called an abscess. An abscess can cause damage to the bone around the teeth.
