Not necessarily. We have learned the meaning of the slogan, "Live and Let Live" and can live, work and play in harmony anywhere. Even if we reserved an entire ship for its total capacity of 3,000 guests, there would still be 1,000 or so crew members not in recovery. There’s always somebody! In fact, in the spirit of sharing a life of abundance, we encourage those in recovery to bring "non program" loved ones on these enlightening trips.

Yes. This is a private travel club and is not open to the general public. In support of our group vacation, you must book your trip with us. It takes a lot of work and time to collect all those other alcoholics who show up so you can have a fabulous group vacation. They are not onboard by accident. If you have not booked your cruise with this travel agency, you can attend the public AA meetings on any ships which now have a "Friends of Bill W." meeting onboard.

There must be a life altering event to shake up the alcoholic so badly that the decision to give up drinking becomes more appealing than staying drunk. This shake up is loosely called "intervention." And, it could be an unorganized, grueling jumble of personal tragedy for the alcoholic and the family. This may be in the form of divorce, job loss, financial ruin, domestic violence, child neglect, jail, cirrhosis, insanity and ultimately death.

The New York Police Department will begin closing down access to Times Square starting at 43rd Street and Broadway and moving north as revelers arrive. The exact times that these blocks close to pedestrian and vehicular traffic will depend on when the revelers begin arriving. It is likely that there will be no vehicular traffic on either Broadway or Seventh Avenue as of approximately 4:00 p.m. Vehicles will most likely have difficulty traveling across town after 6:00 p.m.

The only way to sober up is allowing the liver to function over time. The liver is able to process and remove 1 ounce of alcohol per hour. Despite popular belief, there is no way of speeding up this process. Cold water, cold showers, coffee, exercise or oxygen will not help you sober up. Even after you are sober and have no measurable alcohol in blood, your coordination, reflexes and perception may be affected for up to 72 hours.

We do not currently offer a special menu or dessert item for guests celebrating an occasion with us. Please know however, that many guests find our generous dessert portions ideal for sharing

We are in Historic Downtown New Braunfels, about 1 mile north of IH 35 at 275 S. Seguin Ave. Coming from the south during road construction on the interstate take exit 186 and stay on the access road, drive to the light at Seguin Ave. (FM 725) and turn left. If coming from the north, take exit 189 and stay on the access road, drive across Hwy 46 to the light at the entrance to New Braunfels Market Place and turn left.

We love Christmas here. The Christmas lights are excellent. The best lights are on the bondgate tower. Obviously such an historic building must be treated with respect and the lights are dignifies - so we have a lion (obviously) flanked by two Percy Crescents. Then the gateway itself is lit. We hold a number of what we call Stomp Dances throughout the year. These are social dances done just for the enjoyment of the dancing. Time is kept on what is called a water-drum. Sometimes in conjunction with these dances we play Pahsaheman which is the Lenape football game. It is played differently though from the football game you know because it is played men against the women. The men can only kick the ball from place to place, but the women can throw it or run with it.

A.A. is a program of total abstinence. Members simply stay away from one drink, one day at a time. Sobriety is maintained through sharing experience, strength, and hope at group meetings and through the suggested Twelve Steps for recovery from alcoholism. 1

We come to realize that we can't control or change another person and that our efforts to do this only frustrate us and can even make situations worse. In Al-Anon, we learn to detach by taking the focus off the alcoholic and concentrating on our own healing.

The liver can metabolize up to 0.5 ounces of alcohol per hour. That's only about half the amount of alcohol in a standard drink. Once the alcohol is in your bloodstream, nothing can speed the rate of metabolism. Not sleep. Not caffeine. Not food. Not water. So all you can really do is wait. Give yourself time to sober up if you've been drinking. Stop drinking or switch to water or soft drinks before you have to leave the party.

It means that, as far as we can possibly tell, on any trip or event created by Sober Celebrations the top priority of the circle of attendees will be in maintaining sobriety under all circumstances anywhere in the world.

In spring 2005, the Alcohol Policy was revised. Organizations must provide 1 sober host for every 30 guests.

Most brides find that 1 or 2 people who will give them honest advice are the best. Babies and young children are not advised as they need a lot of attention and are not usually "in" to shopping for bridal gowns. Mom, or whoever is paying, is an important person to have along. Our shop is intimate and too many people with one person can cause confusion for the bride and other shoppers.
