What is the principle of operation of a Flame Ionization Detector?

Teledyne Analytical Instruments | FAQ
We are installing a 1223B with dual sensors per channel for an H2 plant. Is it possible to simulate a signal check for each channel module? If so, please advise the signal type and its equivalent range to 0-100% LEL. See similar questions...

What is an Optical Flame Detector?

fs-business
The Optical detector is an electronic device containing electro-optical sensors that are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation in the UV, VIS, IR spectral bands. The Optical detector "sees" the fire by detecting the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the combustion products. See similar questions...

What is ionization?

Water Ionizer FAQ
Ionization is the process of converting liquids or particles wholly or partly into ions, it simply means gaining or losing an electron. Ionized water is water that has undergone the process of ionization through a water ionizer. Ionized water either becomes alkaline or acid, meaning that minerals have been segregated accordingly and the pH has been adjusted up or down. Pure distilled water does not ionize, and so is useless for ionization. See similar questions...

What is the principle of operation for the CO sensor?

Teledyne Analytical Instruments | FAQ
The F1R sensor is a solid-state electro-chemical cell, which produces a micro-amp signal proportional to the amount of CO at the sensor. It is a three-electrode sensor. This sensor requires a -75 mV bias voltage applied generate the current output signal. See similar questions...

How does an optical flame detector detect a fire?

fs-business
The fastest method to detect the above energies is the Optical analysis of the radiation emitted in a combustion process. The Optical detectors detect the radiation energy emitted by the chemical processes that take place in a fire. See similar questions...

Why would I use a FL3100 UV / IR flame detector over the FL3101 UV detector?

General Monitors - Frequently Asked Questions about Gas and ...
The FL3100 is immune to lightning and arc welding. Many compressor stations and other applications are located in areas where lightning is present. See similar questions...

Why would I use the FL3102 DFIR flame detector over the FL3100 UV / IR detector?

General Monitors - Frequently Asked Questions about Gas and ...
The FL3102 DFIR has the ability to see a fire through heavy black smoke. The FL3100 may not see the fire since the black smoke would block the UV side. The “COPM” self checking only tests the lamps, windows for dirt and the UV and IR detector circuits. It does not test the relays or the 0-20mA stepped output. The TL103 allows you to test everything including the relays and output from the 0-20mA. See similar questions...

Why are ionization interference less severe in ICP than flame emission spectroscopy?

CLU-IN.ORG | Characterization and Monitoring > Technology To...
Ionization interference is less severe in ICP for several reasons. The plasma spark used in ICP analysis burns much hotter than a flame emission system. The temperature of an ICP flame in the analytical zone is approximately 10,000 degrees C. The higher analysis temperature allows more interfering analytes to be burned away. ICP also uses a magnetic coil to hold the sample in place and this magnetism confines metals in the convection zone (plasma spark) for a longer period of time. See similar questions...

What is the principle for the operation of natural gas vehicles?

FAQ - CNG
Vehicles are filled with compressed natural gas (pressure of 20 MPa, 200 bar) at CNG filling stations by means of a refuelling valve. The CNG fuel tank is a gas pressure vessel which is usually made of steel, although lighter composite vessels are becoming more popular. In modern cars, pressure vessels are generally located outside the luggage area (on the bottom of the vehicle); in buses (especially low-floor buses), they tend to be positioned on the roof. What is the easiest way to sight and align a Net Safety Flame Detector?

Net Safety Monitoring | Sales Department | FAQ and Industry ...
Net Safety recommends using our Laser Alignment Tool. This device is temporarily placed over the fire head and the laser is used to establish the correct line of sight. Once positioned, the swivel mount is tightened to lock the detector in place and the Alignment Tool is removed. See similar questions...

What is the Precautionary Principle?

Massachusetts Breast Cancer CoalitionMassachusetts Breast Ca...
The idea of precaution has been handed down to us in the form of maxims, such as "a stitch in time saves nine,” or "better safe than sorry," or "look before you leap. See similar questions...
