We encourage teams to be accompanied by a faculty advisor, though an advisor is not required. A faculty advisor can provide broad assistance to your team during the preparatory phase of the competition but may not take an active role in developing any part of the team's work product. Faculty advisors will provide a supporting role throughout the competition.

The investigator gathers information and facts related to the allegation of abuse, and any other information relevant in the circumstances. The expected outcome of an investigation is to identify possible recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future, at preventing abuse overall, and/or at improving the general well-being of the client.

The faculty advisor is usually a teacher responsible for all of the students when attending a Model UN conference. Usually the faculty advisor is fully committed to Model UN, but he or she does not need prior Model UN experience. This person should be able to assist students with their research. Also, the advisor oversees students when they make travel arrangements to conferences. Lastly, the faculty advisor will help students pick out the Model UN conference they would like to attend.

It is important that all investigators involved with scientific or teaching activities using animals are aware of the role of the responsible investigator. This is detailed in Section 3 of the Code. The responsible investigator has ultimate responsibility for the project. This includes all matters relating to the welfare of animals used in scientific and teaching activities and also compliance with administrative requirements. Accordingly, joint responsible investigators will not be approved.

No. The faculty advisor may not help team members during preparation of the case analysis or on the Day of Competition. This rule applies to any non-team member i.e. staff, ambassadors, other students/faculty. Only the four participants of each team will be allowed to work on the case material.

You will meet with your assigned advisor during pre-registration each semester. This will be November and April of each year. Otherwise, your advisor can be your "go to" person on campus, available to assist you with any concern or question during the school year. You can set up an appointment with your advisor by contacting him / her by phone or email. Your advisor may be available to see you on a walk-in basis if you stop by their office during their scheduled office hours.

If you change your major, you will need to change your advisor. In the CAP Center, there is a self-service display board with the step-by-step process for changing advisors and / or majors outlined. If you are on the Muhlenberg Campus, you can contact Penny Jessup for assistance with this process.

If over 30 credits but under 70, must have 2 consecutive semesters of satisfactory performance (2.0 or better) at UMW (2nd semester may be in process). If over 70 credits but is a newly admitted BLS student, the student must have attended BLS Orientation and be currently enrolled at UMW in at least one class in major.
