There are between 14 and 20 Trekkers in each group, although group sizes do vary according to age. There is a designated group leader for each expedition, who sets the itinerary and is responsible for all aspects of the group. In each group, there is an expeditionary cook and one or two other instructors who are designated as a naturalist, sociologist, historian, or artist.
