Assembly is easy. All the instructions (in Japanese and English) and all parts for assembly are included.

You don't have to use a cover, but it is recommended because it will protect your mattress (the mattress fits inside the cover) and is removable for easy cleaning. You are able to choose from a variety patterns and colors to give it the look you want. See the covers page to see the selection.

The sofa does not open into a bed - it's just a darn great sofa! It's very comfortable to lie down on, though, and after a late night of studying (or partying) you may certainly want to do this. You may find that your feet will dangle off the end if you stretch out a bit. But students indicated this is OK after about a six-pack of beer. It's perfect for taking long naps.

We recommend using our new paint, Upholstery Fabric Paint, rather than Simply Spray for upholstery. Upholstery Fabric Paint is a different formula than Simply Spray. Depending on the fabric, Simply Spray will work on upholstery. It is always best to test on a small piece of scrap fabric before proceeding. Simply Spray works best on 100% light colored fabric. Simply Spray will not cover dark fabric. You will need to apply a few coats of paint to fully cover your upholstery.
