You may obtain an official copy by visiting the Recorder of Deeds office or by mail. To obtain a copy by mail complete the Deed Copy Order Form (pdf).

The Register of Deeds Office provides deed copies at $.05 per page in the office. You may also obtain a copy by visiting the Online Search on our web site.

The fastest way to obtain this information is to come to this office. We are located at 240 Old Country Road, Mineola. Computer terminals are located within our office and are available to the public during normal business hours to research mortgages, deeds and other documents affecting real property within Nassau County. Knowing your section, block, and lot will be helpful when researching a property.

The uses that are allowed on a particular lot are governed by the regulations for the zoning district in which the lot is located and other general regulations. The minimum yard requirements, more commonly referred to as "setback requirements", along with other location regulations, restrict the location of structures on a lot. The setback requirements vary by zoning district.

The Register of Deeds office maintains only recorded plats. All other maps are available from the Alleghany County E-911/Mapping Office at 336.372.7920. Those maps are also available online at the county's GIS Website.

There is a computerized index of Grantor and Grantee information that is available in the Recorder's vault for public use. Grantor means the seller and Grantee means the buyer. In order to locate a copy of your deed, you would search for your name as the Grantee since you are the one that last bought the property.
