You must not compromise structural integrity for insulation. Insulation has very little weight bearing strength. A topping slab over extruded polystyrene is satisfactory only for light residential loads. If you cannot insulate underneath the slab, then you should insulate well at the perimeter where most heat loss occurs. An uninsulated slab may not be as responsive as one with insulation, but the overall heat loss could be acceptable. See similar questions...

A - The slab may be of any size sufficient to stop the bottom of the mast pushing down into the ground but a standard paving slab (as opposed to just a paving stone) of about a foot square and two inches thick would be more than adequate for most situations. Screw Clips twist into the foam-board insulation. The tubing snaps into the screw clips. Then, wire mesh (remesh) and/or rebar is laid over the tubing. When you pour the concrete, pull the wire mesh to the middle of the slab. Be careful not to pull the tubing up with the remesh when you pour. A.: No, it is very rare that we cut or polish onsite as this makes a lot of mess and can affect the breathing of small children and animals and also makes a lot of noise. Granite tiles and slabs come in different thicknesses and it's important the thickness is uniform prior to installation. Granite is a very dense natural material so weight factors into the supporting material the tops mount upon. The weight per square foot for each thickness is as follows: Granite is heavy and will require proper equipment or labour to accept goods on delivery.
