Our earrings are made of a special stained glass called "Wasser Glass." This is a very thin and colorful glass that becomes incredibly strong when kiln fired with 22k gold.

These terms are often used interchangeably; however, leaded glass properly refers to a specific technique for constructing stained glass panels or windows. This method is quite like a jigsaw puzzle. Glass is cut to individual shapes which fit together to form a pattern or picture. Lead cames (channeled lead strips produced for this purpose) are then used to join the pieces of glass to form a panel. Where the lead meets, solder is applied.

GLASS MAGIC is the fun and easy way to make stained glass. It's a non-traditional system in which high bond adhesive-backed lead and fade resistant glass stains are applied to a single piece of glass. This means there's no glass cutting, no expensive equipment and it's easy to do. It looks so like traditional cut glass it's hard to tell the difference.

The "Tiffany Method" of building stained glass was introduced at the end of the 19th century by Louis Comfort Tiffany, famous artist and glass designer. Glass shapes are cut and ground. The edges of each piece of glass are covered in copper foil, then the pieces are connected by running a bead of molten solder over the copper foiled seams. The Tiffany Method is used to create 3-dimensional objects such as lamp shades, as well as decorative stained glass panels.

Stained glass art involves skilled craftsmanship. It takes years of patience and practice to produce high quality work. Each manufacturer's glass has unique quailities and behaviors, as well as colors and texture. A craftsman must become familiar with all the available materials and know how to combine and orchestrate them into a work of artistic merit. Building a stained glass panel is like creating a jigsaw puzzle.

Just wipe with a damp cloth and polish. On occasion you can polish the glass and the silver soldering work with a coat of most any brand of auto polish. Just apply a light coat over the entire piece and polish it with a dry soft cloth. This will brighten the piece and remove any fingerprints. Then sit back and enjoy!

The mirrors are completely made of stained glass except for the process of bonding the pieces together, which is copper foil and solder. (This is known as the "Tiffany" technique, as Louis Comfort Tiffany, at the turn of the 20th century, developed this method of bonding large glass artworks so they would not weigh as much as works done with tradtional lead came).

During the making of these panels a few minor hair line cracks MAY happen during the crafting of each piece. These are common in large stained glass artwork and does not affect the integrity of the art piece. The art pieces are not in perfect or mint condition as it was made to give the art pieces a vintage effect.

We finish all our custom glass artworks with a glass wax known as "Kem-O-Pro Finishing Compound", following the manufacturer's directions. This is very similar to the carnoba wax used in automobile waxing in the past. It will make the glass sparkle and shine brilliantly, and create a protective coating over your glass art that will make regular dusting/clean-up a breeze. All you will need is a feather duster.

Glass FX toughened glass panels are hardwearing if cared for correctly. The surface should be kept clean and free of surface build up. General household glass cleaning agents are suitable to be used with a chamois, soft sponge or cloth. Scouring pads, steel wool or grit patches can cause surface scratches.
