It is to the student’s benefit to repeat a class in which he/she received a grade of D or F to raise the GPA. In order to satisfy major requirements and General Education Requirements for CSU breadth and IGETC, the student must have a minimum of C grade in all coursework. If you received a grade of D or F in a course, you may petition to enroll in the course again. You should fill out the Course Repetition form and submit it to the Admissions Office at the time you re-enroll in the course.

Not necessarily. However, certain requirements may be met only with a "C" or better grade, such as the English and math competency requirements for the associate degree and all courses required for an occupational certificate. Also, if the course is specifically required for the major, you are generally advised to repeat a "D" grade and must repeat any "F" grade.

Classes in which you earned C- or below may be retaken; however, grades for both attempts will be calculated into your GPA. The semester hours for only one attempt will count toward graduation. Classes in which you earned C or above can be retaken, but you will receive only a grade of pass or fail when you repeat one of these classes. The credit hours for the repeated course will not count toward graduation.

This will vary with your major and the course. For example, all business majors must have a grade of C- or better in nine lower division courses before going on to junior level classes. Consult with your academic advisor.

You cannot use that class for graduation. You can repeat it or select another course. (2) Your GPA will suffer, and you'll probably go on probation.

A class may be repeated once and up to 2 times with approval of the Dean. Once a class is repeated and you complete a "Repetition Form," only the grade from the last time you took the class is calculated in your overall gpa. Please note that this may have an affect on your admission to a restricted program.

All business and international core courses must be completed with grades of "C" (2.0) or better. The concentration courses in the accounting, information systems, management science and foreign language concentrations require "C's" or better. The courses within the other concentrations must be completed with "C" averages.

According to the institution’s policy, any student earning a D grade in any courses will have to repeat the same course in following semester, as a GPA of 1 does not meet the criteria to be worthy of the degree.

For the purposes of improving your UT cumulative GPA, repeating a course is always good to do. However, those hours are added to your TELS credit hour calculation, and both the original grade and the repeated grade are calculated into your TELS GPA. So, it is important that you evaluate your GPA to determine if it might be better to repeat the course at a later time. You might want to discuss this with your advisor.

You must get a C or higher for a course to count toward the history major or minor requirements. Rutgers allows students to retake courses in which they got a D or an F, but there is no guarantee that a specific course will be offered again. If you retake a course, this new grade replaces the old one in your GPA, but the old course still appears on your transcript.

See the "Course Forgiveness" policy described in the current Catalog of Northeast Alabama Community College. You will notice it is up to you to request that the new grade be counted instead of the first one; this procedure is not automatic. Your advisor can assist you in understanding the policy.

Students Starting as Transfer Students Fall 2005 and Later - No! Both grades will be averaged into your overall GPA. Transfer students are not eligible for the Grade Substitution Policy Freshmen Starting Fall 2005 and Later - Maybe. A very limited Grade Substitution Policy exists for first time freshmen who receive a D or an F in a course within their first two terms in residence.

A final letter grade won't be assigned until the end of the semester, but you can compute your grade progress yourself by adding up the total points possible at a given point in the semester and finding out what percentage you've earned of those total points. For example, if in Week 8 we've completed activities worth a total of 210 points and your own gradebook total is 179 points, then you currently have a grade of 85.2%, which would fall somewhere in the middle of the "B" range.

Attend all classes, come to class prepared, complete all of the assignments & assigned reading, take thorough notes, study in groups, ask lots of questions, and drop by to see me if you have any questions.

A student can repeat a maximum of two courses. Normally, these courses are courses that a student received a fail grade (e.g. F) or courses that affect negatively the cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, or bridge courses with low grades. You need to go to the Office of Graduate Studies and fill out a course repetition form.
