If you wish to post bail for an inmate, you should contact the Jail at 920-832-5630 to find out the exact amount of money that is needed to be posted. Bail can only be posted by cash, credit card, money order or cashier's check. Bail can be posted at any jail in the state of Wisconsin (keep in mind not every jail accepts credit cards. You should contact them prior to your arrival to avoid any problems). All bonds have to be taken at a jail or police department.

Bail can be posted at any time. During business hours, cash bail can be posted on the 2nd floor of the Hall of Justice with the Clerk. After hours the jail will take cash bail. The jail does not take checks and will need the exact amount of bail. We cannot make change. There are local Bail Bond Agencies in the phone book that are also available any time. They will need the name and charges of the inmate to get started.

BE ADVISED WHEN POSTING THIS TEN PERCENT CASH OPTION, IF THE DEFENDANT FAILS TO APPEAR, YOU WILL BE LIABLE FOR THE REMAINING NINETY PERCENT OF THE BAIL AMOUNT!!! By posting bail you are personally responsible for the defendant's appearing whenever the court requires.

Bail is money or other property that is deposited with the court to ensure that the person accused will return to court when he or she is required to do so. You may either post the entire amount, go through a bailbonds company or obtain a property bond. A bailbonds company usually charges a fee of 10% which they keep for dong the work. A property bond is a more complicated procedure best done through an attorney.

A prisoner has a right to be released on bail unless arrested for an offense where No Bail is permitted, or unless arrested on a warrant or detainer which specifies "No Bail". The Fremont Jail will accept bail 24-hours a day in the form of cash, cashier's checks, and surety bonds from a bailbonds person or his/her representative. Personal checks may be accepted from other than the prisoner, but only for charges to be heard in the Fremont Hall Of Justice, or warrants issued by that court.

If bail is posted, you will remain free pending appearance at an arraignment. You will be given a court date by the jail and have to appear on that time and date.

Bail and/or bonds may be posted at any time at the Clay County Jail. The Jail will only accept authorized bail/bonds persons. Bondsmen are listed in the phone book. Bail may be accepted in the form of money orders, cash, and certified check. Personal checks must be authorized by Jail Administration.

If someone is booked into the Jail on new charges or warrants (with the exception of municipal warrants for which you should contact the municipality to learn court information), they will normally go to court between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. the following business day. If they are booked in on a warrant Friday or during the weekend, they will normally go to court Monday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
