Any diesel engine can operate on Biodiesel with no modification to the engine. Older vehicles often must have their fuel lines changed from natural rubber to synthetic rubber hoses. Using B20 (a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel) requires no precautions before use. If you want to use a blend higher than B20, such as B99.9, you will need to be aware of a few precautions before proceding. Scientific research confirms that Biodiesel exhaust has a less harmful impact on human health than petroleum diesel fuel. Biodiesel emissions have decreased levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and nitrited PAH compounds that have been identified as potential cancer causing compounds. Test results indicate PAH compounds were reduced by 75 to 85 percent, with the exception of benzo(a)anthracene, which was reduced by roughly 50 percent.

I would tend to want it started at least every other month. I have started engines that had not been started for over 7 years and they still ran great. I have also started some that were not ran for 6 months and they would not start due to one or more seized injectors. The problem that you CAN get by not starting one for a long span of time is that on some occasions one or more injector RACK RODs may seize.

Biodiesel blends can be used in any internal combustion diesel engine with no special modifications or extra machinery. There is one minor issue when using B100. Gasoline and diesel engines operate according to different engineering principles and burn completely different fuels. Gasoline engines require a volatile, high octane fuel whereas diesel engines run on a low octane and relatively low volatility fuel.
