What is the difference between NAD83 and WGS84?

Canadian Spatial Reference System - Frequently Asked Questio...
In the beginning (1980s), WGS84 was based on the same Doppler reference frame as NAD83. Both reference systems were therefore compatible with each other, at least to the accuracy of the Doppler reference frame (about a meter). On Jan 2, 1994, a new realization called WGS84(G730) was introduced. This version was derived from the International Terrestrial Reference Frame ITRF91. This was the point at which WGS84 was no longer compatible with NAD83.

Q8. What is the difference between GDA and WGS84?

Intergovernmental Committee on Survey and Mapping - GDA
In January 1994, GDA94 and the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) coincided. At around the same time, the WGS84 reference frame was also aligned with ITRF. In January 1997 WGS84 was re-aligned with the then current version of ITRF, within a few centimetres. For most practical applications where an accuracy of only a metre or greater is required, GDA94 coordinates can be considered the same as WGS84. See similar questions...

Q1. What is the difference between WGS84 and ETRS89?

Welcome to OS Net
Most people who are familiar with GPS have heard of the WGS84 (World Geodetic System 1984) coordinate system. This is a global coordinate system designed for use anywhere in the world. WGS84 coordinates are usually expressed as latitude, longitude and ellipsoid height. WGS84 was designed for navigation applications, where the required accuracy is one metre or lower. What is NAD83(Original)?

Canadian Spatial Reference System - Frequently Asked Questio...
NAD83(Original) - North American Datum 1983 (Original). The near-geocentric three dimensional reference system for the U.S., Canada and Central America, based on the Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80) reference ellipsoid. Although originally intended to be geocentric, it is now known to be offset from the true geocenter by about 2 m due to the limited accuracy of absolute positioning at the time. What is NAD83(CSRS)?

Canadian Spatial Reference System - Frequently Asked Questio...
NAD83(CSRS) - North American Datum 1983 (Canadian Spatial Reference System). The updated three-dimensional realization of the NAD83 reference system, still based on the GRS80 reference ellipsoid. In agreement with the US, this realization is defined in terms of a common procedure for transforming from recent versions of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). Is the WGS84 datum more accurate than NAD27?

MapTools - Frequently Asked Questions
It is a false assumption that a coordinate value based on the 1927 North American Datum is less accurate than one based on NAD 83 or WGS 84. The coordinates for the same location are different. But given that the datum of the coordinate matches the datum used on the map, you will see no difference in the physical location. See similar questions...

How do I convert between NAD83 and WGS 84?

SOME QUESTIONS ON DATUMS AND DATUM TRANSFORMATIONS
I think the proposition of doing a "datum shift" between NAD83 and WGS84 is a waste of time. The difference between the two is the philosophy of how an inertial datum should be defined, and is ignored by all but a handful of geodesists that are working at extraordinary levels of accuracy. G6. What does NAD83 and NAD27 mean?

Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas
NAD83 and NAD27 indicate the "UTM projection", or the "Datum". UTM coordinates assume that the earth is flat within an area called a Zone. The calculation that allows to obtain UTM coordinates is different now (North American Datum 1983 or NAD83) than the one used during the first atlas (North American Datum 1927 or NAD27). If you are using a GPS, make sure to set your datum to NAD83. Please read your instruction manual if you are not sure how to do this. See similar questions...

Will the Geographic Calculator convert coordinates from NAD27 to NAD83?

Geographic Calculator
The Geographic Calculator can use up to 5 different datum transformation methods for this conversion: NADCON - the most accurate method for conversions within the U.S. and other territories wherein NADCON grid shift files have been created. Bursa/Wolfe - a seven parameter transformation that can be highly accurate if appropriate parameters are used. Generally published parameters will generally yield inferior results to the NADCON or CNT V2 methods. See similar questions...

Q7. Why is the ITRF92 used for GDA, instead of the WGS84?

Intergovernmental Committee on Survey and Mapping - GDA
The International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) has been adopted in favour of WGS84 because it is more recent and is supported by the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), whereas WGS84 was developed by the US Department of Defence years ago. This decision was affirmed in early 1994, when WGS84 was modified to align it more closely with ITRF. See similar questions...

Q8.Why is the GRS80 ellipsoid used for GDA, instead of the WGS84 ellipsoid?

Intergovernmental Committee on Survey and Mapping - GDA
The two ellipsoids are effectively identical. When the WGS84 system was developed it was based on the GRS80 ellipsoid, but computational techniques resulted in a small difference in the flattening. When used to express earth-centred Cartesian positions (X, Y, Z) as latitude, longitude and ellipsoidal height, these two ellipsoids result in a difference of less than 1 millimetre. he values for the false easting and false northing are defined as part of the Universal Transverse Mercator projection. What is the difference between the ?

Quality of components, construction and optics. While all models are based on the same technology, each type of microscope employs different construction, size, optical quality, magnification power and method of use. Since the end test results should be basically identical with all models, selection becomes a matter of preference. Additionally, overall quality of components generally tend to correlate with ease of use and successful results. See similar questions...

What geographic transformation method was used to convert the GCDB data from NAD27 to NAD83?

GeoCommunicator Frequently Asked Questions
The reason you may see the township labels in some areas but don't see the township lines displayed is because there is no BLM data available for that area. If you refer to the availability index, you will see that the areas where labels display without lines are classified as either "Alternate Source" or "No Data available". The labels are displayed for reference, but we don't display the Township lines from the availability index since it was not generated from the BLM GCDB source. See similar questions...

How will I see a difference?

Arthrosamine Beefy Chewables
The biggest indicator is how well your dog moves and how much its level of activity increases. The better your dog's joints feel, the more they are going to move them. Dogs that laid around most of the time will begin to walk more, perhaps even start running and playing. Just watch your dog and see how their level of activity changes and how easily it gets around. You will be able to tell when they're feeling better. See similar questions...

Is there any difference in how windows are made?

Alside - Frequently Asked Questions
There are two basic types of construction: Mechanically fastened windows are screwed together at the corners. And welded windows, becoming more and more popular, that use a chemical or heat process for joining. Alside produces mechanically fastened and welded windows. Our mechanically fastened windows feature a unique overlap corner design for extra strength, while our welded versions utilize state-of-the-art heat welding equipment. See similar questions...

Is there any difference between brands?

Alginate Dressings: Frequently Asked Questions
A study compared four different calcium alginate dressings (Algosteril, Comfeel Alginate, Kaltostat and Sorbsan) with respect to wound fluid retaining ability, adherence, dressing residues, epithelialisation and inflammatory cell infiltration using a standardised partial-thickness wound model in domestic pigs. Wound fluid spread laterally onto surrounding normal skin by about 40% more with Sorbsan than with the other alginate dressings after 24h (P = 0.026). See similar questions...
